Hey, leave Bush alone. He's almost done and we're all still alive, aren't we? So he did good.

No noo-koo-lear holocaust = very good presidential performance

Hey give him time, he is in the middle east at the moment.

I really really really hope Hillary wins the big one, it will put an end to that whole silly "if women were in charge there would be no wars" bullsh1t once and for all. Then next time round hopefully a vegan can win and that will put an end to the whole, "thats inhumane" bullsh1t, then hopefully everyone will admit we are all just out for what we can get any way we can get it, that will be one small step in the right direction at least.

Are you for real? He did a terrible job in office. The US dollar has never been so low. Never before has so many diffrent countries really dispise the US. Also he has had a negitive effect on US tourism. He has scared the US people to belive that there is another attack going to happen any day. The whole thing of been us Irish people been finger printed and a mug shot taken when entering the us its like been treated as a crimnal. Bush was the worst US president in recent years.

But you are criminals or at least moaning whores about the immigration: oh boo hiss USA let us in!

I have no sympathy friend. While bertie goes over and negotiates better terms for you people like me coming into YOUR country still get processed just the same as any Kenyan Refugee. Time to realize your sh*t stinks too. I'm not saying the US system is a shiny pickle either though, just that your attitude is mightier than thou.

As for Bush not being a screw up: are you people kidding me? AMERICAN HOMELAND SOIL IS UNDER ATTACK! ALL OUR BASE ARE BELONG TO OSAMA! MR PRESIDENT WE NEED OUR COMMANDER IN CHIEF!

Aww but I want to finish the story! Waaa!

Where has Bush been for around 300-400 of his days in office? At the ****ing ranch shooting the breeze. Thats where he was when they came up with the plans for invading Iraq; thats where he was when Katrina happened.

george_bush_singing.jpg "Drove my Chevy to the llevy but the levy was dry..."

Not to mention impeding progress heavilly in the last year by veto'ng almost every spending bill that has come out of congress (domestic or military) that was not giving 'his boys' more money without a withdrawal deadline. And sadly congress is in a stalemate: unable to gather enough votes to supersede any of these vetoes. Thats progress. Who wants to invest money in a country's economy when at their highest level of government the only thing being let through is military spending: hardly an investment by any financial account (or moral account in the general consensus). No wonder the dollar has fallen apart.

As for the military spending listen out for Iran: before the year is out they will have already placed the finger on Iran having a nuclear weapons program etc etc etc and then congress will pretty much be forced out of its deadlock to pass more money to the military. Fan ****ing tastic. More dollars gone. Especially if its not UN endorsed.

I have no problem with a woman president - but I wouldn't even let Hillary back into the White House on the guided tour. Her campaign has only shown me for one that she has no problem lying to the public and changing her story around quicker than a maxi pad.

that Bertie wants Irish to get special priveledges over other foreign nationals - basically, retroactive passports, this that and the other. its 9 am. Ive been drinking. Please dont make me cite my sources just google a news search for march 17 last year under bertie and irish.

Seriously though if you want special priveledges throw me an olive branch here... I feel like im on parole  student visas are ghey.

I'm willing to bet it's a damn sight easier to apply for citizenship in Ireland though, whatever about temporary status etc. though I don't claim to have read up on the matter at all. I may.

I only asked because I am actually in L.A. at the moment, on the home stretch of a months holidays with my family. My two grandparents, my parents, myself and my three younger siblings. Here for two nights and all of us fingerprinted and photographed and made feel none to welcome at all to be honest! In fact, when getting in to New Zealand I was personally stopped twice by airport security to be asked random questions, in particular regarding whether or not I used cannabis (I was looking a bit rough that day...) and even at that, felt more at ease than I did walking through LAX for half an hour.

Mind you, in Dublin it's a middle ground. You don't feel alientated or welcomed, the staff just couldn't give a toss! :P

not that i dont feel welcome here in general - everyone loves an american exile :p but im quite bitter about the fact that ive lived here 8 years and paid my taxes and i cant get citizenship because ive been a student for those 8 years: which basically amounts to piss and vinegar.

I want to go to Mexico flash an irish passport and be loved like a descendant of St Patricks Battallion :D but alas..... :(

I was thinking that same exact thing, the only reason they're together now is strictly for the camera. I think a non stable marriage should be considered when electing the next pres. of the usa.

Either that or she's a forgiving, compassionate woman to whom the solidarity of marriage and love conquers all.

eh, I don't know. I think its strictly politics why they're still together. You don't see them close together that much.

I'd say she's just as much of a freak as he is. She was using bill to lure unsuspecting interns into wild Clinton family orgy's.

    -> politics

    real?

dunno, but something looks suspicious about this image:

Yeah exactly this video also makes hillary look suspicious to me. Something about her just gets under my skin. Is this video copying the apple commercial from a long time ago? If so that would explain the ipod she has on. lol

As should being an alcoholic, drunk driving, draft dodger with the IQ of plaster board, but it never seems to work out that way, does it?

Basically if your American what your overriding concern should be is who is going to run this country the best?

Even if Hilary is a cold, amoral, lizard-person-in-disguise, power hungry, woman you can't deny she would probably do a good job. She's smart, tough, loads of experience and has enough cop-on to realise that small improvements at a time is the best she's going to do (learned through experience after the health bill thing when Bill was in the job)

You shouldn't really care if she rides midgets in her spare time or like knitting jumpers. It should be all about who will do the best job.

BTW I also think Obama is a good candidate and McCain and Guliani are also quite capable. Americas onto a winner as long as it doesn't pick Huckabee or Romney

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

with Hilary I've no doubt that she could do the job, but it's more a question if she will. there are so many many hidden interests at work in the US presidential race. Obama reminds me of our own Enda Kenny, lots of talk but no substance. you know he'd really try his best to do a good job but you wouldn't be sure if he could.

but what do i care, I can't vote.

well i can vote, so any insight you guys can give me would be great.

Vote for Ron Paul, if for no other reason it'd be funny

the dollar has declined dramatically (this may not be down to him being president though, but regardless it works out great for us!).

Great if you're going over to pick up some cheap clothes, but not so great if you're one of the many in Ireland whose industry depends on the American market.

I really don't think Giuliani is a serious contender. 9/11 did a lot for his image, but I don't think he can back it up.

i agree, i dont think Giuliani is gonna win this one. I like the guy i just don't think he can back it up either. I mean he was a mayor, not a governer, not a senator, but a mayor.

Mayor of the biggest city in America during new yorks or americas biggest tragedy. Maybe that will be enough though, we'll see.

of course it is, that s if the American media want to. it's becoming more and more apparent that the editor in the newsroom has far more of an effect on the population than frankly a lot of what the candidate does. that Hilary video apparently was only shown fleeting on most American networks, not allowing your average Joe to see the absurdity of it in it's context or her pretty personal attack on Obama after it. but then again i picked that little fact up off our own media here, who can be just as biased themselves when they want so i dunno...

    democracy doesn't work.

democracy works, the best candidate will win. Thats why there are electoral colleges.

So, Bush was the best candidate the first time around, and got more of the votes? Not sure either of those are true.

Very true, 9/11 is the only reason he is anywhere near a contender. It served well, but there are a few question marks over some of his actions afterwards - not to mention some of the slightly dubious methods he used to get the reported crime rate down in N.Y. That said, that's not likely to reach the masses.

Well yes, because anyone is going to look even better than they are when put against Bush.
