Why would a Man Utd fan be biased to an Arsenal player:confused:

You should know all about that - putting Stevie G in with Fabregas & Ronaldo YEAH RIGHT

It's without doubt between Fabregas & Ronaldo - the former for overall team contribution and the latter for sheer goals and assists, both arguably for winning games (PL)

I actually find Alan to be 1 of the less biased Liverpool fans. Except as regards Rafa hahaha.

I agree those two would be favourites, but Gerrard defiantely deserves the number 3 spot and could well overtake the others by the end of the season.

Similar assists and goals to Fabregas and obviously gives more to the whole team that Ronaldo.

It can't be Fabregas, big game tonight and as usual he was nowhere to be seen... isn't that right, ntlbell?

    lol :)

I stand by my Essien decision, that said, I've only seen him in about 3-4 games, but I'm sticking with it :)

As for Ronaldo, imo he's been quite poor this season. His general play this season has been poor imo. He has added more to his game in terms of end product, but I think his assists show how he hasn't really been on form. I think this is largely due to no defender running behind the defence for him to work with. His best talent is breaking past the lines then sliding it in for a striker, and cause the only striker we really have is Rooney (Saha doesn't exist and Tevez is really an attacking midfielder) Rooney can't really keep up with him, although by god he's trying.
I think if we get another striker in, Ronaldo's game would improve a lot. Still, there's more to come from him this season I think.

Players like Ronaldo always create space if only because they get double teamed every game.

I just think it'll be Ronaldo simply because there isn't much by way of competition. Fabregas an excellent player, but Torres has been something special to watch this season.
Can't say Gerrard is having the season of his life but still doing his job, likewise with Lampard, neither really turning on the style to be considered player of the year.

My point was that so far this year it seems to be less clear cut than usual, the usual suspects haven't reached their heights as previous years but long way to go yet.

It should probably be a player from one of the surprise packages this season, but it'll never go to a team outside the Top 4. Elano has been mostly brilliant, as have Dunne & Richards. Anelka has scored goals in what's a fairly brutal and uninventive Bolton team, that has to earn extra brownie points. Adeboyor having good season filling in Thierry's boots, also Keane has been very good if you disgregard his Ireland performances. There's also Santa Cruz and McCarthy who have been quite brilliant and Muntari at Pompey has shown some real class.

But it'll prolly be Ronaldo or Cesc depending on who wins the league.

    From the 'Big 4':
    Fabregas on top.
    Ronaldo second.
    Torres third.
    Essien fourth.

Not much between the last three there, but Fabregas really does stand out.

From the rest... Lescott. Dunne, Petrov & Elano have done very well. Benjani.

Tell me you're joking... McCarthy's been pants compared to last season - or indeed any of the genuine form players this year. Santa Cruz has been good but if you're going the Blackburn route, I can't see how you'd look past David Bentley - he's been at the heart of damn near everything they do, much like Gamst Pedersen was last year.

    Ronaldo
    Fabregas
    Dunne

you have got to admit that altho there have been some stellar performances from certain players so far this season, none ofthem have been consistant so far! gerrard can have a blinder one game then just dissapear in the next! i do think that ronaldo will get it tho, altho like gerrard he isnt THAT consistent, when he is on, theres no stoppin him, also his goal/game ratio is something to be admired!

For me it's a toss up between Cesc and C-Ron, for fairly obvious reasons, tho I prefer Cesc as a player.

    Other mentions are:
Torres - Adapted very quickly and well to the English game
    Dunne - A rock
Elano - excellent for city, at the centre of everything they do
Laursen - Another rock, the reason Villa are 7th. People mention stats, Laursen has scored 5 in the league, only 1 less that Cesc and 2 less than Gerrard.

    Cesc for me, easily.

Elano - excellent for city, at the centre of everything they do
    .

I wouldn't put Elano in that list yet. He may still make the team of the year but he has not been at his very best in the first 6 months of the season. When he arrived he played brilliantly in fits and starts despite not being 100% fit. Since he returned from the October internationals though he has been knackered and has had quite a few bad games that have totally passed him by. He was rested a bit last month and his performance at Newcastle gives hope that he is returning to form and fitness. He is clearly a very special player and we are lucky to have someone of his calibre at City, but I think we will see an even better Elano in the new year.

If any City midfielder deserves to be in the team of the season so far it has to be Didi Hamman. A lot of what he does goes unnoticed but he has been a revelation this season and the player I have been most surprised with given his form last season (albiet when Psycho decided to play him). He was one I was sure that was destined for the door under Sven, and the way he has consistenly performed this season in front of the back four has been remarkable. If only he was 21 and not 34! (Honourable mentions to Petrov, Corluka and Johnson obv who were also very good in the first half of the year)

Well I still think he's been very good. If he get better he may well content for poty.

    And on present form, Berbatov

How are people nominating Essien? Great player and all, but he's been pretty poor since Mourinho left.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭dc69

how are people nominating fabregas?i think he is a brilliant player and will in my eyes be one of the best midfielders in the world(he prob already is) but gerrard has had a mediocre season for him and has scored more goals.fabregas for his age and where he was at last year is playing unbelievable but he isnt the best midfielder halfway through this year, thats gerrard.

ronaldo is playing unbelievable and he is currently the best winger in the premiership he should be number 1,fabregas hasnt been the best midfielder in the premierhsip so i dont understand people putting him number 1.i would have gerrard ahead of him and both torres and ronaldo ahead of gerrard

Fabregas has alot more than Gerrard IMO. he has so much more to his game. Gerrard exemplifies the overhyped nature of English players. Don't get me wrong, he's a quality player, but players like Fabregas remind me of why I love watching football. He just has that touch of class. Give me Fabregas before Gerrard any day!

everyone to their opinion but I think 99% of people would have gerrard over fabregas anyday, fabregas doesnt single handely win games for arsenal every couple of weeks and just isnt in the same league, although i would say he will be

Completely different type of midfielders and both fantastic players

I'd go for Fabregas though as I think he is less dependant on other players to maximise his playing ability.
