    Welcome back Dan

That 1.1.3 is not confirmed yet AFAIK
All the alleged features are available to any jailbreaked phone

And the site that broke it does not have a record of Apple rumours

    how much?

    Alot!!

Have a look right now at the bay and see how much unlocked 1's are going for. Still, I reckon whenever they are officially released in Ireland they'll be that price plus you being locked into the overpriced monthly contract thingy.

Did you purchase yourself yet Dan?

I say i was one of the first to own one. Had mine now for few months.

No wonder you seem to know all about them, I was thinking;) Mate of mine has one a while now aswell, got it for a steal of a price too.

Dan, is it possible to get the visual voicemail to work with O2 unlocked?

    Cheers.

Actually one of the less impressive things that the iphone is capable of doing

Have a look at some of the apps on the installer

Got my 1.1.2 iPhone, what a piece of kit :D
Have it jailbreaked, and I'm going to wait a week or two and see if any software unlocks come up before I go buying a turbo/stealth sim. If nothing surfaces I'll buy the chip.
I'm happy to play around with the jailbreaked features for now though. I'd love if somebody could build an app to convert the eircom SSID to the WEP key, most people haven't actually picked up on that security hole and it would mean free wireless in most major towns, you're almost always near an eircom router!

Looks like the 1.1.3 leaked firmware may be real according to TUAW and Macrumours and Gizmodo

cian, was the whole jailbreak of 1.1.2 easy, i'm having a look round google and i always find guides that are useful but then i read another guide and it has like conflicting info on it that makes me wary on which guide to use.

with relational to that security flaw of eircom's SSID for routers are tied to the WEP key doesn't really mean if they used another WEP key that they are secure. WEP is totally unsecure and can be cracked in seconds if you know how which i won't get into here.

just a quick question i just thought of with SMS' on the iphone. you can store infinite messages so long as there is space on the flash drive. is there a handy delete all then for SMS' as i tend to be very lazy when it comes to deleting messages.

*EDIT* balls just read this i sure hope the iphone i'm getting is 1.1.2 OTB.

Will stealthsim work with 1.1.3? From this: http://gizmodo.com/338948/ it looks like it might, but you wont be able to install 3rd party apps, am I right in saying this?

It's *VERY* easy to jailbreak the iPhone 1.1.2 - but take your time. I used this guide, which is the best by far by far:
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=461

The i pod that was bought for you will be 1.1.2, they aren't shipping 1.1.3 yet. The trickiest part is getting the jailbreakme.com to work, I had to try ~20 times before it actually worked, I think they just have a heavy server load - just keep trying. Go somewhere where there is good wifi signal to increase your chances.
Any questions ask here while it's fresh in my head - also hackint0sh.org has just about all you need to know.

I was messing with customiser earlier, an application I installed using installer and accidentally removed some of the icons. The applications are still there but since I cant see the icons I cant access them. I know they are still installed cause when i go to installer there is the option to uninstall the apps. Does anyone know how to restore the icons?

thanks cian, that guide looks good.

i shant worry about the wireless as i'll be doing it right beside my router which i'm well capable of admining (ie i won't have problems on the router side of things ;))

i'm getting excited now, only three more days :D

I used the iClarified guide as well to jailbreak an 1.1.2 OTB iPhone. Of the guides online, I found it had the clearest instructions. So many great little apps for the iPhone after jailbreak!

Hi people , im currently in new york , going home 2mor evening , going to purchase i-phone 2mor . Been to t-mobile charging 800 dollars for unlocked phone (cutting sim card and other changes?) , at & t said 400 dollars for their i-phone which they told me was incompatible with the euro and irish market . Which is the better option buying an unlocked phone or a locked phone which i could unlock at home if its not 2 complicated ?????????????????????

It isn't unlocked, still waiting on the software solution ...shouldn't be long to wait.

Hi I have a 1.1.2 OTB, jailbroken etc. Works fine except for youtube. I've tried a couple of options 'YouTube activation' and SurrealNetworks 'YouTube fix' but neither have worked. Still keep getting the 'can't connect to youtube' message. Anybody any ideas how to fix this ? Thx in advance

I had the very same problem. The installer wasn't loading either for me so I just restored the iPhone and started again. It was much easier second time round anyway. Works perfectly now.

Can you see other web sites through Safari via WiFi such as google.ie, boards.ie etc? Also I persume you have 1.1.1 and not 1.1.2 firmware?
