I want to get a decent semi-acoustic guitar for up to 300 euro. At the moment I have a samick acoustic, which I've had for years and am fed up of it: bad action and crappy resonance are my main gripes.

I've been looking at some different semi-acoustics, mainly single cutaways ( I like the look of them). The names that keep popping up that take my eye are tanglewood, cort and takamine.

Any recommendations or recommendations on those types above?

My advice for a €300 budget to get a decent guitar would be to go for a second hand Takamine. €300 really isn't going to get you out of the budget range of Electro acoustics and on to the next level unless you go second hand. For guitars though, second hand means you get a better instrument for a cheaper price. Most new guitars especially in Ireland are overpriced.

So takamine would be the best of those 3 then?

I've heard a lot about Takamine and COrt but don't know anyone who owns one, but the two people I know who own Tanglewoods both got another on impulse they liked them so much. I've played the two belonging to one of them and they were both beautiful and sounded amazing.

I have a Takamine EGS-430sc, Ive had it about 6-7 years. I love it. Fantastic sound from it. Id recommend a Takamine. I got mine new, but there are good deals to be had for a second hand one.
