In your experience, dyou think a lot of venues, or hardly any, or even none, have a problem with people taking photos at gigs?

As long as you're not using professional cameras, it's generally fine.

Your fellow gig goers on the other hand....sufficed to say, if I have to watch one more gig through someone's digital camera screen

went to see tool in the point last yr and they were taking cameras off people at the door.. digitals and all.. managed to get mine in as did many others..

And here is the mad part.. the guys on the balconys, if they spotted you puttin your phone or anything in the air to video or take a pic they would have the torch in ur face and there would be more security guards at your side screamin at you to put it away.... that was the worst id ever seen.. other than that one gig its always been cool!!

Tool have always been against footage/photos of them getting out though right? not having themselves in music videos has been part of this.

Depends, pro cameras are generally less intrusive in smaller gigs because you can get away without using a flash - the most infuriating thing about people with point and shoot cameras at gigs

Maynard is a bit weird with unofficial photos of him but both videos for Hush and Sober featured the band and they are regularly photographed professionally.

The other half had the camera taken off him at The Point and made delete the pictures of the card by a jobsworth management type. Luckily other half had them backed up to the camera and not just the card.

I've heard the Bruce gigs in Belfast people will be searched and cameras taken off them...

Have to agree with the previous sentiment. Sitting behind someone using a digital camera is a right pain in the arse.

I started a thread on the subject of this and other annoying things people do at gigs this morning, but for the usual legal reasons the thread was canned.

It's fairly pretentious of him imo! That really pissed me off that night
I walked in the front gate with my camera in my hand tho as they put the pit pass on my arm and they said nuthin haha!

As for taking pics at gigs, I'm very fond of it and I'm sorry to the people who I annoy! I really don't like it when venues/artists try to ban it altogether though, it's just seems stingy

I'm a bit puzzled as to why some gig goers persist in taking pictures with their mobiles during gigs when all they'll have to show for it is some crap, blurry picture afterwards.

"Hey, check out these pictures I took at the gig last night."
    "Uh, yeah...nice.

sometimes I take a camera along, sometimes I don't........I tend to take a camera to smaller gigs/venues, and nearly always check with the promoter first......
bigger gigs/venues, pain, a complete pain, Ambassador went through a phase of not letting people in with Camera's at all (I remember Slayer in particular because a mate of mine was stopped) if a band requests that photos not be taken - then respect their wishes, it's their business so I don't see the problem....

and I also can't stand people making a video of the whole show, but it's not too bad having people taking a momento of the show if it's a couple of pics - is it ?
cameras and recording equipment (which digital cameras are) aren't supposed to be brought to gigs, but like the Provisional license thing, why are they only starting to enforce it now.........
