Thank for this, rc28. Should one have one of these, what can be be about it? I'm sure that if we import an Iphone from the US to Ireland, that Apple Ireland won't be replacing or repairing..

if you add modmyifone.com to your sources in installer it will be in your installer then

For anyone getting the low disk space error which is soooo annoying add http://sleepers.net/~iphone/repo.xml to source and boss's unlocking tools have a fix for it.

For anyone who is looking for a quick fix to the 1.1.2 otb www.iphonesimfreer.com the stealth sim has been proven to work.But i have been told there should be a unlocked available next week dunno how userfriendly yet.

does the new sim card have to be left in your phone or is it taken out and you put back in your old sim. are phones free to use any sim after having this procedure done.

have many people down graded the firmware 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 or 2 so that this firmware versions can be unlocked and if so what sites or packages have you used

I havent really looked to see how the stealth sim actually works just know it 100% works for 1.1.2 software

You can not software unlock 1.12 you can jailbreak it

The easiest way is to downgrade to 1.11
First you need to download 1.11
Then you need to put the iphone into restore mode
then when itunes recognises the iphone you need to press shift and restore then direct it to where you saved 1.11
Then jailbreak 1.11
Then run OKtoprep in the installer
then UPGRADE not restore to 1.12 via itunes
then jailbreak again

www.hacktheiphone.com, has an easy to follow tutorial ( ignore the references to anysim they do not apply to you )

with the stealthsims like iphonesimfreer they are preprogrammed it is very straight forward.
The stealthsim has a little chip so you cut a piece out of your simcard to make room for it you put the two of them together and insert into the phone. The chip on the stealth sim contains the info of an ATT or uk o2 simcard depending on which you use/need so that it fools the phone into thinking it is an official sim card.
The draw back is that they may not allow you to upgrade the firmware in the future that said there is no guarantee that any of the unofficial methods may be upgradeable in the future

Didn't realise that unlocking my new iPhone still restricts me to O2 uk. After a lot of Googling and guidance everything but the phone bit works perfectly after activation. I was in Newry yesterday and got 4 of them, one for me, one for my wife and two for friends. If I use the stealth sim or similar this will cost 220 Euro. Might just stick with my Sony until next week and see if there is a free hack. Where is the best place to see when new hacks are announced? Thanks

I have got both the iskin revo and the griffin iPhone clear case both bought in America but can be bought online and I much prefer the griffinvery simple yet offers great protection.

I've got one of these. It was the most unobtrusive cover I could find. Got if from ebay US cost me $10 and shipping was $20 :rolleyes:
