1 - its probably a cute fuzzy wittle kitten

2 - to despose of kitten , release said dog in attic.

    3 - wait approx. 10mins

4 - problem solved (unless its like a lion cub, then doggy gonna go to doggy heaven)

5 - alternatively, burn said rodent with flamethrower (or dowse attic with petrol if flamethrower is inavailable)

...seriously tho, wat kinda dog dya have? throw ur dog up there, (little dogs go mad for rats, its cool to watch)

Well, you're ideas are good but..... the dog is only 10 months old and it's not dissimlar to a kitten itself (it won't even go outside in the dark OR in the rain - a king charles) As much as a scaredy cat as I am, I believe the dog is actually worse! AND she has been barking randomly at different parts of the ceiling for weeks and we thought she was goin insane or there was something very wrong with her - she could probably hear whatever it is but how the hell is this thing surviving up there?

My sister has wolfhounds and rottweilers, maybe could send them up tomorrow, but they'd come through the ceiling in a second :D

ok, ur gonna have to burn down the house then im afraid!

wait till morning, jus go up (ull hate every second of it, but ull be so proud of yourself for goin up) jus see if ya see summit like rat poop, or scratchings. keep us informed now of wat it turns out to be.

better not be no stibkin boring rat.i hope its an alien, or a mongoose or sumthin at least a little unexpected....

I'm not lying when I say I keep looking over my shoulder and expecting to see a Siberian Tiger or a Grizzly Bear or something behind me. I'll let you know of course and I'll also let you know what f*cked up dreams I have tonight IF I eventually get to sleep.

Only two things you need to remember.
    1. Whatever it is, dont get it wet.
    2. Whatever you do, NEVER EVER feed it after midnight.

We have a mouse at the moment too. It's freaking me out. It's under our fitted wardrobes in our bedroom and we could hear it scurryin around. It was super loud. It sounded like a mouce army was in there. Then the mouse ran out at me and I freaked out. My bf tried to hit it with a broom but it ran off. It's now scurrying around the house. /shudders

We've got traps down so fingers crossed! Apparently they all come inside at thei time of year because it's got cold and there's no food sources outside anymore.

Good luck, i hope you're mouse doesn't jump out at you from your wardrobe! (Seriously, it was going for me!)

There's now a mouse-trap in the attic and no sign of any animals and/or animal droppings either

My father was up there earlier and said there was no sign of anything. I mentioned bats to him and he forgot to look "up" so still could be bats....hmmmm.....if the food disappears of the mouse-tap and there's no casualties I WILL worry :(

if it is a rat then it will laugh at the mouse-trap.

It could be birds breaking open snails off your roof tiles.

Does it only happen at dawn?

Horrible freaky ghost. Has to be.

Do you get cold chills up and/or down your back when you're home alone. Think about this very carefully: Do you want to suddenly see a ghost in the bathroom mirror, standing behind you screaming silently and reaching out for you with its cold, dead hand (from beyond the grave)? Think about it, think about it a lot. Especially when you have to go pee in the middle of the dark, dark night.

Either that or its a really big spider.

This time of year i'm almost certain what you have is a lesser spotted Bolivian death mouse.
It shouldn't be much trouble as long as you please it with offerings of cheese and gold coins.
It should head back to the high seas when the ice melts in March.

    Bad news :(

The trap that was set this morning with cheese in, is now cheeseless and still set, whatever is up there is either extremely lucky or extremely crafty

Bought new mouse-traps and several are now awaiting their prey so fingers crossed I'll be hearing it/them tonight but along with the usual noises I'll hear the traps and the whimpers or them being trapped.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,778 ✭✭✭sebastianlieken

ah, i dunno why this didnt dawn on earlier, its obviously speedy Gonzalez. i saw him do that trick in his cartoons lots o times, crafty lil fecker!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 890 ✭✭✭l3LoWnA

Update - both traps went off in the last hour or so and I've heard whatever it is dragging a trap around behind him (or that's what it sounds like since) but it's settled down a bit now....I'll send the heavies in later to investigate, or maybe in the morning! :)

Tie a bit of bacon fat to the trap, and smear the trigger platform with grease from the frying pan ;)
He wont get that off in a hurry, and if he starts licking the fat off the trigger platform....

    SLAM !! you've got him :D
