What would happen if After Hours was closed for a week?

Seriously, I think it would be quite interesting if After Hours was shut down for a little while, and people had to post elsewhere.

What do you think would happen? Would TCN explode?

Deja vu. Have you not suggested this before or am I insane/ psychic (don't answer that :p).

I'm all for it. Close AH for a weekend. TCN, Music, Humour and regional forums would get much more traffic. All the mods can go on the lash.

    Agree, would that ever happen?
Sitting at home today-sick, AH is the most interesting forum... so many topics are being discussed and the range of responses are equally entertaining :D

I use the Martial Arts forum, plus Animals & pets, then BG&RH.

Failing all that, I'd have to start talking to the people behind me...(I use this from work).

I wouldnt laugh as much, my work day would feel longer, I'd get more work done, my boss would expect too much from me, I'd refuse to do the work when AH gets reopened, I'd then be fired

The other forums would collapse under the unexpected influx of posts.

Well how would you feel about a weekend closure of AH?

twould be quite interesting actually. that said, i have a few other fora i frequent on boardsie and several others where im a regular, so i can't imagine it having a huge impact on me... though i would miss browsing here when bored.

Ive been on hiatus from AH for a while (little bit ban/little bit lack of interest) and i cant say i missed it but still, AH is the heart and soul of boards, its for the salt of the earth poster. None of yer poxy private forums for the humble AHer, thank god

Sure there's envious mods who imagine that their arsehole-of-nowhere forum in the wastelands of the regional section might get a bit more traffic if AH is overthrown but thats just typical of the parochialism and begrudery in this country. AH is bigger than that, all are welcome here, free from the tyranny of being on topic. Knickerless burds, romanian gypsies, taxi drivers, skangers, and yes, even YOREMA all have a place here. Feck the begrudgers, AH we salute you and all who sail in you

Rarely on here during the weekends so wouldn't bother me...

It would hopefully get more people talking in the Films board, which IO regularly check and see very little activity in. Not that I'm free of blame; I rarely start new threads.

I've heard that if AH closes the world stops and then starts turning in the opposite direction. Of course I may have been misinformed.

The place should be closed for a week, so it can be cleaned and fumigated if nothing else! AH posters have been leaving chewing gum stuck under the seats are there are syringes everywhere. Terry, Karoma, WWM and all need to don their aprons and rubber gloves and have the place sparkling by the time the rest of us get back.

If there was no AH then the streets would start to look like this

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,309 ✭✭✭Kazu

people would post in The Cuckoo's Nest

    if After Hours was closed

btw some threads in After Hours should be moved there :D:D

just move everything to the Dublin forum...

Go for it, for a week.

Productivity at work would rise, other boards would get busier, and some of the bravely-cheeky-when-anonymous types may try their sh*t in the real world & get a good slap for their troubles.

Then we'd all be happy to have it back.

I take it a lot of ye know eachother in the "real world" then?

Feedback would be over run with threads from people asking why they are banned from After Hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,073 ✭✭✭✭Terry

My sitting room would be painted and the furniture would be rearranged to a more suitable fashion.

I would also probably lose about a stone in weight from actually getting up off my arse and doing something productive.

    • Traffic would probably reduce ergo add revenue would probably go down.
    • The signal to noise ratio in other forums would take a turn for the worse. AH is one of the more attractive forums for trolls.
    • BGRH would be a temporary home for many.
    • Some people might discover there are forums for some other their interests they didn't even know existed - good thing!
    • People would have less to discuss at lunch break at work - AH is a great news source.
    • I could construct another bullet-point list listing reasons to bring back AH.

    I'm all for it!

That's probably the only reason AH is here. Keeping the other forums troll free. :)
