I just took delivery of mine. This was the auction and this is the seller.

I paid $580 + $40 shipping (was listed for 595 but he accepted my Best Offer of 580). Customs stung me for €76.43 VAT though.

The seller shipped it the day after I sent the PayPal payment and emailed me tracking details straight away. I was able to track it to my door. In fact, here's the tracking details (and here).

Only 5 working days door to door, and very protectively packaged, too. I'm happy. Just hope the missus is too, it's her Christmas present (but my toy ;)).

    Thanks Niki
    How difficult was it.

Thinking about it for a 1.12 otb phone but keep convincing myself the software unlock will be released the day after I order

Did you upgrade the phone back to 1.12 or is it still on 1.02
Hey, it wasn't difficult at all. The i found a MAC tutorial and just converted it for PC (http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17738).

The good thing about TurboSim is it should stand up to future firmware upgrades. Even if a software upgrade does come out it's only €70 for the TurboSim, which imho is worth it to have a functioning iPhone! :)

I am now running 1.1.2 again, everything is fully fuctional except for visual voicemail... which was to be expected.

Sorry to repeat everything that's been said, but I'm using 3 broadband and pages are taking a very long time to load (this isn't the right thread, so I shant go into that here), so hopefully people can answer my questions here:

My dad is hoping to get an iPhone for Christmas and I thought I should find details about it here so

1: Is it possible to get it for him by Christmas i.e. is it currently available in the South? And if it is only available in the North, would there be any problem with using it down here? Without having to pay roaming charges.

2: Who will be carrying exactly? I had heard o2, but reading the first couple of pages here stated vodafone were most likely. So, has there been anything confirmed yet?

3: Around how much is the RRP?

4: He had been told that it was possible to work on spreadsheets, how true is this? This would be used mostly as a business phone, so being able to send and recieve spreadsheets, but also being able to work on them, would be perfect for him.

5: How many of the capabilities available in America would be available here? Like the internet service or whatnot the iPhone website has been showing. Do we have the technology?

I cannot think of any other questions, but if people could answer those it would be great, plus any additional information that would be useful. Thanks.

And sorry for repeating any questions asked, at the rate the pages are opening, I'd be here til next year trying to read through all of this.

I just heard from a vodafone employee that O2 appear to have won the battle. Don't know dates.

I appear to have become the iphone unlocking service of my school:rolleyes:
Someone came to me saying they have an iphone from when they first came out last summer but they dont know how to unlock it. I presume it has some early 1.01 firmware but i've only unlocked 1.1.1 iphones. Does anyone know if u can upgrade the iphones firmware before you bypass activation and jailbreak? ie, connect it to itunes and select "update" but then navigate to the file where 1.1.1 firmware is on the pc? Does anyone have a link as to where to download the 1.1.1 firmware-will i have to unzip it first?
    Cheers.

    Uh oh, I think you're going to have to wait a few weeeks for an unlock-keep an eye on the following site for updates;
    http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iphone_information_1.html
However, all is not lost- you can still bypass the activation screen and use the iphone as an ipod touch- ie all the features and wifi except the calls and texts part.
