    Hi all,
I have an iPod Hi-fi and have been using it for weeks with my iPhone without any issues thankfully. Reading what I read here I am now a bit fearful it my fry it... :-(

Anyhow, I was in the UK over the weekend and once I switched it on over there and it was roaming on the various networks I encountered a major problem. It would receive text messages and calls no problems but when I tried to get into the springboard anytime the screen was all black?? I could not access any of the icons. I turned it off and back on and still no joy. When I got back to Dublin last night it was working perfectly fine again. I'm on Vodafone here and was roaming on various networks over there. Anyone else come across this, it was very annoying!!

    Mark

That's strange all right Mark. I was in the UK last week and had no problems at all when roaming. fyi I'm also on Vodafone.

    Hi,
I've just activated my iPhone tonight (in UK, on contract) but I can't connect to my wi-fi at home (sky broadband with a netgear router) I keep getting the message "In correct password for SKYXXXX" (where SKYXXXX is my router's SSID). The security is set to WPA-PSK. I've tried turning the phone on and off, but other than that I don't seem to have any options. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

whats the easiest way to get music and video etc onto the iphone WITHOUT using itunes ..?

    Hi all,

I'm thinking about buying the iPhone now on ebay, I can buy it unlocked but it is cheaper to buy it out of the box.

Just wondering what you guys think I should do..

Only read this thread for the first time tonight and there's so much info on it my head is fried... From what I can gather, if I follow some of the instructions above I should be able to unlock the phone myself, but I just want to double check this with you guys first.

The phone I will be buying is coming from USA and is with AT&T network.

I'm not real techy but I think I should be able to follow the instructions ok.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I was typing it (repeatedly) in lower case. The iPhone keyboard takes a little getting used to. Maybe I'm too stupid to own an iPhone (after all, I did sign up for an 18 month contract)

If it is 1.12 OOB then you will not be able to sim unlock it at the moment if it is earlier than week 45 ie 1.11 1.02 etc then you can.

Hopefully when apple release 1.13 the dev team will be able to sim unlock 1.12 phones as long as you do not update to 1.13.
So the question is when will Apple release the next firmware upgrade so far it has been about a month between upgrades which would suggest mid to late December but Apple may not have a reason to upgrade until the Iphone is released in a country not catered for by version 1.12 or they release the SD kit which should be next Feb.
So you might have to sit on it till Febuary with no guarantees.

And of course you can still activate and jailbreak it so you have an Ipod with a camera and wifi and youtube and googlemaps while you are waiting

    Good luck

Of course the Dev team might find another exploit as they have only had the dump for 4 days or you could possibly try Turbosim

For those who are interested in A2DP etc for the iphone, i received my Jabra 125s yesterday plugged into my iphone got the annoying message ignored it, Paired it with my Head unit works a treat! Can also use the iphone bluetooth and pair that with my head unit to so i can stream my music via jabra and receive calls via iphone bluetooth, I got the Jabra for approx 37 Euro from Ebay incl shipping. For those who are interested in iphone cases, i find the Griffin iClear iPhone Case the best its sleek, doesnt make the iphone much bigger than it does and provides great protection. I paid 25 Dollars for it,I also have a iskin revo which i am fair disappointed with it does give good protection but no as good as griffins, i have my revo thrown in a bag. There is also a Sms fix for those messed up sms's ie web/carrier fix.

How to fix the SMS problem easily:

    1. Open installer, and tap Sources, Edit and Add.
    2. Type in http://i.unlock.no/ and Ok then Done.
    3. Now tap on Install at the bottom and scroll down to the Unlocking Tools category
    4. Install SMS Fix
    5. When done installing, reboot your phone and it should work

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a bit of help. Two week 47 iPhones are on the way to my friend and I from the states. These will be version 1.1.2. My questions are

    1) Is it currently impossible to use a 1.1.2 iPhone as a phone here in Ireland and

    2) What is the best way for someone to bring the two phones through customs i.e. in the box in main luggage section or out of the box and in a jacket.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have just unlocked my week 45 UK iPhone which is 1.1.2 OTB.
I bought a TurboSim and installed it. At the moment it is the only way to use the new iPhones in Ireland.
You can see the tutorial i used here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17259&page=15 (The MAC tutorial is on page 9 of that thread)
I can't advise you on the Customs thing :)

    @Powerhousedan,
I have not heard about that SM problem, what is it exactly? Also, when you say the Revo does not give as much protection as the Griffin can you elaborate a bit more? I was thinking about getting a Revo as they look pretty cool.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Yep, see my post above. I think the TurboSim cost about €70 from Bladox
Well worth it imho, because i had a brick now i have a working iPhone! :p
The only thing not working for me is YouTube, but that may have been something i did wrong... i'm investigating that.

Thanks Nikimere, does Turbosim allow you to use all the iphone functions properly. How come the other hackers havent copied the Turbosim strategy and made it accessible for free. So it is possible to avail of the full functionality (Phone/Internet/iPod etc) of the latest version iPhone provided that you use Turbosim, is that correct?

TurboSim is a piece of hardware. You have to cut a lump out of your simcard then the TurboSim is slotted into your simcard slot with your simcard.
You can use all the phones functionality except for visual voice mail. That goes for any unlock, beit hardware or software.

For anyone interested in the Griffin Roadtrip, I got this reply back from their support re potential issues with 3rd party hardware:

"The RoadTrip is not approved by Apple for use with the iPhone, however our testing shows it will work and we have not had either reports or instances of damage to an iPhone when used with a RoadTrip. You will get a "Nag Screen" at first saying, "Item not made for iPhone". All you have to do is click on "ok", and then it works like normal."

I'm using it and have had no problems.

Dan what version firmware are you on ?
This is fixed already for anyone who upgraded to 1.12 I think.

    How difficult was it.

Thinking about it for a 1.12 otb phone but keep convincing myself the software unlock will be released the day after I order

Did you upgrade the phone back to 1.12 or is it still on 1.02
