Im looking forward to the Final as tbh it is the last "big day out" we will have for a long time I fear. Then again I do have the hotdogs in Monaghan to look forward to :)

Im hoping we can play as well as we have been doing as of late. There is a great spirit among the players. Shame Deegan will be missing and the few lads cup tied. On paper it is a one sided game and Cork should easily win but one must always hope for Corks players to think it is won and not turn up.

One thing is it is a chance to say farewell to most of the current team and thank them for the immense effort and passion they showed for the season despite all the **** reigned down upon them by the board and to say thanks to Matthews for sticking by us and nearly achieving the impossible.

They've gone down hill, first time we played down there this season they were nice but the second time they were freezing cold:eek:

    b. enquire about a booking, then when told it is unavailable, put the new date on the original fixture list.
FFS they tried a and did b des.

    Did B?

    Are you for real?

Let me ask you a question here.

Either RDS was unavailable before the fixture list was drawn up, or it wasn't. If it was available, then it would have been booked. And the date would have been true.

If it was unavailable, for that date, before the list was drawn up, then they would have tried to book another date, got it, and then put that date on the list.

So they plainly didn't enquire about the RDS for the date they wanted, or make a booking for it, for the date they wanted.

Why are you defending them? They fúcked up here. And deserve criticism. The FAI should be severely criticised for every fúck up they make, criticised in every quarter.

For too long they have gotten away with sub-standard malpractice, and it's time, we, as fans of football on this island, and affected week-in week-out by the idiocy in the FAI, did something about it.

The FAI need to be brought to task at every opportunity. To be shown that we will no longer put up with this shabby treatment.

I never got an updated fixture list until the story broke a few weeks ago.

I get every fixture list update and fines/suspensions press release by the way.

Some people here remind me of a quote by SAF:"You know Dennis Wise. He could start a fight in an empty house."

Anyway I have to admire Alan Matthews, I live in the Shannonside region 50 miles from Longford and listen to the local radio which covers the town and Matthews was very downbeat at the start of the season with most of his squad sold trying to get a team together with trainees etc. Then came the points deduction and all seemed lost but a tremendous effort was made in which they almost survived and they then qualified for the Cup Final, I hope they win and wouldn't be surprised if they do.
Matthew's comes across in his interviews as a very good coach and I would be surprised if one of the "bigger clubs" don't snap him up.

Matthews is a bluffer, and his teams play the worst football on this island.

the premier league will be better without them

City will be wearing a special once off jersey for this on Sunday. The shirt is not too bad, but the new crest is too big and a bit shít.

Also, its great to see the players are focussed on the task at hand

    From the Examiner

    Gamble blasts City bosses

    By Liam Mackey

CORK CITY midfielder Joe Gamble has blasted club bosses over the delay in sorting out player contracts, claiming the Leesiders “are known for these fiascos”. In an outspoken interview ahead of Sunday’s FAI Ford Cup final against Longford, Gamble said the contracts hold-out was “beyond a joke”. Since his comments, Cork have sorted the futures of four of the 11 players out of contract, but Gamble says that it’s hardly ideal preparation for the biggest game of the season. “Most of the lads are sick of it. Players should get respect, just like managers. You can’t tell a fellow at the end of the season that you don’t want him. Then what is he going to do? He has got to find a new contract. “It’s about respect. You tell a player if you don’t want him and that’s it. I know you have to deal with budgets, but that’s why people are in clubs as accountants and business people. Let them deal with that sort of stuff and you tell them who you want or who you don’t want.” Gamble believes the contract situation is symptomatic of wider problems at the club.“In general, this club is known for these fiascos. Until people actually really get a foothold and get things sorted and run the club properly, it’s always going to be like that here. I don’t know what any other club in Ireland would do, but definitely here we make life hard for ourselves. I should be talking about a cup final and not contracts.”

How are the ticket sales down in Cork going Gimmick? Nothing spectacular thus far up here.

Ditto. Sluggish at best. In fact, our Club Promotions Officer is offering freebies to anyone who will listen.

:( not good. Then again the pissing rain and the RDS and a month after the end of the season may be having a bit of an effect. Unless in true Irish fashion everyone is leaving it till the day/ tomorrow to get the tickets.

Also the yer old logo was a lot better than the new one.

Tell that CPO I want a free one.

You cant blame the FAI because Shels and Bohs have let their stadia fall to below health and safety requirements
The sheer neck of it!
At least when Dalymount is sold it'll be replaced.

Very good, he always comes across as a nice fella.

I'm looking forward to this, I'll be in with all the Corkies, in my Shels jersey.

I'll be in work. Haven't time to check over the thread but if it hasn't been mentioned already... If you keep your ticket stub tomorrow you'll be given first preference for tickets to the Ireland-Brazil game in February.

finding it very hard to get excited about the final.. hopefully it will hit tomorrow, but i dunno..

maybe cause it's been several months since the season ended, maybe it's the shabby treatment afforded the final by the fai, maybe it's the fact we're playing a complete nothing of a team, maybe it's the fact im not going, maybe its all the sh!t off the field regarding contracts, maybe it's the rubbish new jersey and the even rubbisher new crest, maybe its the paying of my ridiculously overdue electricity bill has left me skint, i dunno...

i've been more fired up for league games with UCD and longford then i am for this final..

you would have to know what bits of it you actually own in order to sell.....

irrelevent to the original point though. you let your stadium fall apart and ballsed up the property deal to move to the sticks.

your keeper in england right now in talks with a champhionship side, no offence but hes ****ing good (altho last time i seen him he conceded 5 :D ) i seriously doubt any rovers fan thinks he will turn down a move to UK to stay here. he is very very good and that makes him too good for EL.

again, its a wind up. he isnt in england.

heard he was in england also.. why would he want to stay with a rovers team going nowhere?

anyway back on topic, getting a bit hyped about the final now... 3-0 to city i reckon.. in fairness we should be well able to beat a part time first division outfit who dont actually play football and employ a 9-1-0 formation (with the man in midfield sitting just in front of the back 9)

one thing's for sure, it wont be a pretty game..

    To be fair.

I think Matthews let off the shackles this season. Less defensive than last season anyway.

Jeez, yer man has done well to be top scorer playing just in front of the back four!
