Vodafone, I suppose. 99c for 50megs of usage, as far as I know. That's per day.

So use it every day and pay €30 per month, plus normal line rental? Seems pretty steep to me..

    I'm on unlimited data with O2 for either €25 or €30 a month... Think it's €25
    That's pretty reasonable to me.....

What about this http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/roadtrip? I bought one and tried it for the first time today...worked like a dream and charges the iphone aswell, but I'm a bit worried now. You reckon it's safe enough as it's compatible with the ipod touch?
Just found this on the Griffin website http://www.griffintechnology.com/articles/490. They seem to say that it will work......they supply pads to add to the clip and the iphone is held solidly so that's not a problem. Do you think Apple would advise me?

    Have you used the following guide?;
    http://www.hacktheiphone.com/111/iphone_step_1_1.html

That should be ok, mainly its the hifi or head units with IPOD connectivity the roadtrip should be fine but anything ie hifi /head that chargers your iphone stay away from

Ok, i really don't know what advice to give though other than fully restoring your iphone in itunes( makes sure it doesn't download the new 1.1.2 firmware though) and starting again using the hacktheiphone.com method(worked for most people). Come to think of it though- are you absolutely sure you're running 1.1.1 because the only reason the jailbreak won't work would be that the tiff exploit(all the online jailbreak apps used this exploit) was patched on your phone which was done in the 1.1.2 update.
To make sure what version you're on just go into settings----general----about
If that doesn't help i'd recommend you start a thread on www.hackint0sh.org as you're more likely to get answers there.

yeah, its bizarre, i very techy, am following all the steps, i watched the video there but its just not working.

was trying to avoid using itunes to restore until it was cracked but spose i need to start again!!!

    oh well, thanks again.

My brother has an old 1.02 iphone but he seems to have updated to the latest version of installer.app which i thought was only worked on 1.1.1 anyway and now it wont install any apps for him. What does he do to get it working? There has to be people on here with iphones running 1.02 still? If everyone upgraded to 1.1.1 what method is the easiest for doing so?

If you want to post it down to me, I can get it sorted for ya. I know you may not want to take the risk, and that's fine but I've downgraded my own iPhone from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 and had them working fine.

Thanks for the offer but i remember plenty of people upgrading it themselves and i want to know what method they used. There is a guide on unlockthatiphone.com but it requires you to install a virginizer form installer.app which , as i said, wont let him install anything anymore. However it does say that if you've used "anysim" there is no need to virginize and just go ahead and install 1.1.1 but I thought it was this step which bricked loads of iphones a month ago??

2 hours later and a few panic attacks, i managed to upgrade to 1.1.1, using the unlockthatiphines method

worked perfectlt except that in the middle the phone bricked, total black, no response

held both buttons down for 10 secs, relaaesed the top one and restored again

    happy days

    Hi All,

I am back looking for some more advice (and thanks to every in this forum for their assistance as always).

So, my boss brought back a 1.1.1 iphone from the US. Now I am able to unlock this quite easily but my question is with itunes. He currently does not have this on his PC and is going to download it this evening. If I unlock his 1.1.1 iphone and he syncs it to his itunes 1.1.2 will this lock his phone or will it be ok as it is unlocked to 1.1.1?

    Thanks for the assistance.

As long as he doesn't update the iphone firmware to 1.1.2 he will be fine. Just tell him to decline any window that pops up in itunes telling him to upgrade.
I dont know what you mean by itunes version 1.1.2 because itunes is on 7.5 and has nothing to do with the firmware version of the iphone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 947 ✭✭✭Enright

upgrade itunes to 7.5, when the iphone is connected you will get a reminder that a newer version 1.1.2 is available, DO NOT SECLECT the update button,

This option will remain on itunes every time you connect, but avoid the tempetation to click

Whats the best website to oder an iPhone off (other than eBay) ?

I have tried sending a mail to unlockThatIphone.com but they did not respond so I am a bit concerned about ordering from them ...

Care to elaborate a bit more? What version did you upgrade from and did installer.app work for you when you had to virginize? On my bro's 1.02 iphone installer won't work for him anymore (when he tries to install an app it tells him he has the wrong firmware).

The option will not be there every time he opens itunes because all he has to do is check the box which says "do not remind me again" under the update reminder.

alright, finally cracked it, thanks to everyone who guided me (esp rc28)

couldnt get the appsnapp installed via jailbreakme.com after god knows how many attempts !

    then...
restored the iphone to original 1.1.1

    uninstalled itunes 7.5, installed 7.4

used CARNAVAL v 0.8 by Brasuco and followed simple instructions

    4 reboots later all activated

ran anySIM and working on o2 IRL

    rock and roll baby !

    I upgraded from ver 1.0.2

the installer app worked perfectly, using the unlock that iphones version, go to their website, the instructuons are pretty clear

things to watch out for: your sim must have no password

    Various versions:

" click on "Versions" down the bottom. This will give you some information on the iPhone. It will tell us the Modem Firmware Version and the LCD Panel ID. Use this information to determine what Phone Firmware you are running from the table below.

    Modem Firmware iPhone Firmware
    03_12_06_G Firmware Version 1.0.0
    03_14_08_G Firmware Version 1.0.2
    04_01_13_G Firmware Version 1.1.1
    04_02_13_G Firmware Version 1.1.2

    On the virginize process:

Mobile Terminal. Open this and follw these instructions:

Type "cd /usr/bin" and hit enter. "NB: there is a space after cd and before /":D
    Type "./virginize" and hit enter

    hope this helps

    Hi all,
I have an iPod Hi-fi and have been using it for weeks with my iPhone without any issues thankfully. Reading what I read here I am now a bit fearful it my fry it... :-(

Anyhow, I was in the UK over the weekend and once I switched it on over there and it was roaming on the various networks I encountered a major problem. It would receive text messages and calls no problems but when I tried to get into the springboard anytime the screen was all black?? I could not access any of the icons. I turned it off and back on and still no joy. When I got back to Dublin last night it was working perfectly fine again. I'm on Vodafone here and was roaming on various networks over there. Anyone else come across this, it was very annoying!!

    Mark
