I have quite fair skin. When I'm in the sun I don't really burn badly or anything, it just takes me a really long time to get a tan. I'm quite pale but when I do get a tan I think I look much better and other people really notice.

I'm about to go on holiday to somewhere very hot and sunny for a week and want to do my best to get as much colour as possible when over there. I'm not much of a fan of using high factor sun lotion, but how can I make the best use of the short time I'm there?

I also have fair skin but do tan in the sun, it just takes a while and fades quickly. What I've done in the past is use factor 15 for the first few days, then factor 10. These are both high enough that i don't burn and then I don't feel bad that I'm sitting in the sun. On the last day, when i've already got a colour I use factor 2/4 tanning oil. This deepens my tan a lot and makes it last longer. Now, the experts might not reccommend that (skin cancer etc) but it works for me! I don't sit in the sun too much as I'm more of a city break/skiing kind of holiday girl so i try not to feel too guilty! That's what i did in Spain in August anyway and I still have a small bit of colour on me.
