I know. Doesn't bode well really. I find it funny that Minear, Whedon and Dushku would all be willing to go back to Fox again given how they were all burned by other projects. Having said that they are under contract and I can't think of another network station that could really fit this show. The CW maybe but their demographic is a little off...

Interesting. You can imagine the creative sessions that went on in this show. "Hmm, Elisha Dushku, hottie. Can we get to dress her up in nice outfits"

Seriously, Joss Whedon is always creative. Should be worth watching.

Why not throw in Adam Baldwin and Nathan Fillion and curse it completely??
    Fox... jesus, they'll never learn.

I thought Whedon swore to never go near fox again? Our Master has sold out!

Looking foward to this invietable cancelled-before-its-time show!

Yep, that time old formula of:

Joss Whedon + Tim Minear + Fox = DEAD IN THE WATER!

But seriously, Whedon & Minear making another TV show together. Huzzah!

Joss back at Fox. So nervous, yet so excited. It's a real shame Wonder Woman fell through and Goners can't get off the ground; I'm really curious to see what it's about. Guess the man's gotta put bread on the table somehow.

Quite happy that there'll be a new whedon show (esp. with dushku involved, mmm...) but i can't believe he's going back to fox..

IIRC he said he'd never work with fox after being shafted with Firefly, smells like a sell out...

Yeah, Joss Whedon/Dushku/Fox aside, does anyone want to actually discuss the show...?

It sounds like it could easily fall into the 'Dark Angel' trap of; Beautiful girl + crap show = crap show.

I'm a little concerned, still, Whedon hasnt really let me down yet. Except for those few crappy seasons of Buffy, and the original Buffy movie. And, well the entire series as a whole really... but no, I'm fairly confident this will work.

Wow. Just relised that with this, along with Ripper[only tv movie though but still], there will be two Whedon tv shows next year! *nearly cries*

Yeah, the synopsis doesn't fill any great excitement in me to be honest.

treu but the synopsis of firefly did nothing for me & weel we all know how that turned out

im willing to give it a shot (you just know dushku will be wearing a bikini or in her knickers in every episode :) )

I'm glad to hear he's got a new show but it doesn't sound, as a synopsis, all that interesting and I wonder how it will grab the attention of people at large - it certainly doesn't seem to have the unique angle of Buffy. I also don't think Dushku is that great of an actress and, unlike the rest of ye, I don't gain anything extra from staring at her. She'll need to exhibit real range in this one.

Still 'Firefly' proved me wrong - sounded woeful and it most certainly wasn't so I could be pleasantly surprised. With the forthcoming writer's strike though it may be a while before this sees the light of day.

Whedon tends to get the best out of his actors. Dushku was great at playing Faith and that wasn't just a one note performance either. But I haven't seen her really perform in anything else and that goes for a lot of actors that have worked on his stuff.

Ditto the premise; I wouldn't be excited about it unless Whedon was attached but I know that if Echo is hired to re-enact some failed romance then he'll explore what it's like to have loved and lost or if she's hired to be some ace thief breaking into the museum he'll explore a theme of greed or materialism or something. The various missions won't just be window dressing or an excuse to use different sets.

In Minear and Whedon's hands the plots will just be props for exploring what it's like to be human, synopsis be damned.

sounds terrible, 7 episdoes so what, they'll still drop them then anyway...

its sounds another show where it will be just a different show everyweek like tru calling, rather then on buffy where it was more of genre and the same situation, he'd be better doing something like that

anyone a fan of tru calling?

I was a fan of Tru Calling! :D The show started off very shaky, but I stuck with it for Dushku. Granted, she aint the best actress in world, but she IS likeable. And once Jason Priestley came on the scene, the format of the show changed for the better. The last half of season 1 (and all 6 episodes of season 2) were very very good. It’s just a shame the show was cancelled when it was just starting to hit its stride.

But getting back to Dollhouse……I for one find the premise very intriguing and it certainly has a lot of potential. I think it would function well as both a “story of the week” and a big giant season-arc format. At any rate, I’ve total faith that Joss will craft a thoroughly watchable show, as he always does. My only reservation would be his choice to run with Fox yet again. For the love of god, WHY?

I completley agree with you, really must get round to watching the last 6 episodes some day soon.

It sounds like a darker version of Joe 90!!
Provided it goes ahead with this strike issue looming, I have no doubt it'll be good.

Another agree. Saw it first time round on tv3, though it was incredibly average, didnt watch after about ep 5. Then caught it again on a sky repeat last year, though it was still average but wasnt really watching anything else at that stage, so stuck with it, the last few eps were incredible.
