So just trying to figure out what people think about this. Was talking to a friend last night and he says he much prefers skinny girls and prob wouldn't look twice at or date a bigger girl (size 14+). Whats peoples opinions on this?

Ok so the fact that you haven't mentioned slim girls means you're talking about bigger girls, size 14 + most girls of size 14 are not overweight in the extreme, in fact if they're tall they will look slim. Skinny, however, is an extreme, an unhealthy one in general, and while I understand why guys won't find fat girls attractive, I also can't understand why they would find skinny girls attractive, because to me skinny girls don't have curves, and so you might as well be looking at a 15 year old boy, which is not what a healthy woman generally looks like either.

Curvy women are INFINITLY more attractive than skinny women. I don't know what happened to humans in the last hundred years or so that's made us think skinny is more attractive, but it's only a recent shift in thinking. Think art and look at some nudes/life drawings from more than a hundred years ago - the beautiful women painted were all, by todays standards, fat.

Besides, just cause it's nearly Hallowe'en, doesn't mean you'd want to fcuk a skelleton!

Irish women are the ugliest race of women in the world. Seriously. We can be picky. And whats worse is irish women THINK they're really good looking. Can you name a race that's uglier?QUOTE]

Jeez, don't hold back there!!

A size 14 is not that big!! A size 20 maybe...

    Chunks, your ignorance is astonishing!

I am personally very close to someone who walks 5-8 miles a day, and has such a fab diet and never, ever, loses a pound. All the workouts in the gym make such little difference, whereas to regular girls the weight flies off.
Her metabolism is basically gone due to another condition, which one in ten women have.
Can you imagine, what that's like? And what it's like that people like you think they're just ignorant about food, and lazy to boot?
She wasn't always like this, she was size 8-10 for years until this kicked in.

Ugghhh, it's so annoying when people are able to judge so easily when the haven't a clue!!
A medical problem that 10% of the country have? Sorry not buying it.

The human body's a fairly simple machine in terms of fat storage, 'weight loss' comes from burning more calories than you consume.

Metabolism's can be built back up with correct eating paterns, compound lifting etc.

It's all very simple. It's not easy but it is very simple.

As for Irish people being "the ugliest race" it's probably just due to too little influx of fresh genes from other countries, the genepool gets a bit stagnant if left standing too long. This is why people often comment on how children of parents of differing nationalities are more attractive.

I'm not ignorant of it in any way, in fact i'm quite well educated when it comes to fitness and weight loss.

your partner has a medical condition as you stated

A medical condition is always a different story.

The problem though is the large amount of lazy fat people who say they have a 'medical condition' as a reason they're overweight. If they put as much energy into exercising and eating right instead of hiding behind excuses then they'd find they don't in fact have a 'medical condition' and they were just being fat and lazy.

If one in ten women have this particular condition, and I assume there are other common reasons for lack of metabolism, then surely there are in fact many, many women who have a very serious, legitimate uphill battle trying to lose a single pound. An awful lot of people don't even know they have these conditions.
Where have you come across these people, and do tell what conditions do they claim?
Also, if you are so well educated in fitness and weight loss, how does someone without metabolism go about losing weight when diet and exercise haven't worked?

If you know so much then why would you say this: so if you're a size 14 you're telling me that you physically wouldnt be able to get down to a smaller size(within health limits of course) with the right diet and exercise?

He's a sick sick man... But the thing is they're usually big to begin with, then whale size when he's finished!

    Thats even worse!

And your right, 14 isn't that big (not ideal tho'!)

read what was in the brackets.

And yes, i've come across many excuses from both men and women as to why they can't lose weight.

'Well you see, i've to work and then when i get home i'm too tired to do anything....' the reason you're tired is because your body is used to not having to do anything. the only way to fix this is to start forcing yourself to get up and do something. it will eventually get easier.

'Well i have a sore knee/back/foot so i can't...' get proper treatment for it and then continue with the exercise. It's very rare for a sore knee/back/foot to stop you from exercising for long with the right treatment

'Well I have this problem where I keep wheezing and can't breathe so I can't...' get treatment for it. It may be asthma but that is in no way an excuse to stop exercising.

There are treatments out there for people with weak/sick metabolisms. They allow the person to exercise and thus lose un-necessary weight their body is carrying. They're a tough treatment, as with most hard things in life, when started but they can become routine and easier to handle after a period of exposure.
If one in ten women have this particular condition, and I assume there are other common reasons for lack of metabolism, then surely there are in fact many, many women who have a very serious, legitimate uphill battle trying to lose a single pound

have a look at this women(and men) who have uphill battles to lose weight. study their diets, their sneaky snacks, the time of day the eat, the amount they consume during each meal, if they have allergies to certain foods.... now correlate that with the exercise they do adn how many calories they work off. I guarantee in most cases you will be surprised to see that their intake is higher than than their expulsion proving it is in fact not their metabolic rate at fault.
An awful lot of people don't even know they have these conditions.

Simple really. If you feel you're not losing un-necessary bodyfat despite a correct diet and exercise then go to a doctor or health professional. do you need someone to bring you to the doctor and hold your hand?

Damn it! Its always black and white with you people. I find women attractive who like themselves enough to respect there health.
Healthy = big turn on for me.

Healthy != high bodyfat + sedentary lifestyle.

Still wondering that myself as for 10% of women to have it it's too low to be menopause but too high to be anything else that I'm aware of...

I can't believe this, how mean is that!

What about 3 years of doctors, specialists, SURGERY, a LOT of money, a LOT of heartache - does that count? Or do you still think there's got to be an excuse?

Nail on the head. E.G Everyone though Posh was damn sexy when she was in spice girls, since she became skelitor no one I know has looked at her twice.
Curvy is the sex, I admit it though I have few standards when it comes to wimmin. If it feels right, do it.

    thats a theory of mine,

fat girls = nice to talk to, they cant rely on their looks.
skinny girls = some have a tendency to be pretentious bítches when approached.

big generalisation i know, but i've always found large ladies to make great friends.

well you should have mentioned the visits to the doctors previously. It's nice the way you pull the extra bit of information out eachtime in order to have the upperhand with each new post and make yourself look like the victim. It's a very immature way to go about it.

If you want to have a proper discussion about this disclose all the information beforehand, then somebody will possibly be able to make a post that would address all of this information instead of having to constantly change their answers eachtime they're given new information.

Sorry, but imagine there's a condition you know so much about that causes so much upset etc. that 10% of women have it, and some stranger just throws in a comment like that - well it's insulting to me, I can't help that.

Yeah cos maybe she didn't want to expose herself or her friends conditions to the type of male children who tend to post in such threads.

It is called privacy, esp medical privacy.

    what did the doctors say?

Chunks, I didn't mention things before because I didn't want anyone to recognise me (you never know). It's a very painful, issue that has taken over my life in the last four years to be more exact and will for the rest of my life. Tell me why I should have to mention more things, that are so personal? I drip fed more each post because I was trying to explain without giving too much away.Trying to answer your comments. You seem to answer for everything and don't seem to have a clue about what a struggle it can be, and I'm just trying to say that if 1 in 10 women have this, then it is really common and therefore there will be a lot of women who can't lose weight no matter what they do and it's really not an excuse. The weight is only one part, the infertility, diabetes, heart disease risks etc. are even more worrying. You just seem so judgmental and it's horrible from my point of view. Why do you say things like I'm immature and trying to make myself look like a victim? If I'm not a victim, then what would you call me? Is it that you think I'm making excuses?
