Actually you did specify his wife though didnt you? I think for this to hold up Mairt would have to prove he was married (of course I am kidding, you were both in the wrong).

It was the fact he was able to say anything - he was in jail. He rang into the show from jail on a mobile phone that he had smuggled in. The officers, appalled that the general public finally knew this happened, cracked down and a lot of other fellow pieces of scum had their equally smuggled phones taken off of them.
    They weren't happy...

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

Although you don't like mart (by your own admission) you hardly endear yourself with us here with your religious bigotry.

I thought Porridge was a sit-com not documentary.

Well if you didn't insist on taking your trousers off, there wouldn't of been a problem!

Well maybe your narrow minded religious bigotry should be closely looked at here too. Evading a ban by attacking a member through his wife/partner is pretty cowardly IMO.

I hope that, if someone you care about gets killed as a result of organised crime, you'll remember you were in the front row sniggering when they were murdering each other.

I have no sympathy for this fellow, but I don't find a criminal gang murdering anyone funny. If you look for other examples of people finding murder agreeable because the victim belonged to a certain group you're going to find yourself in bad company. Which I think was the source of mordeth's rather ill-advised remark, not bigotry.

A lot of attitudes in this thread show the truth in Bertie's statement (as much as I hate to admit in). While I wouldn't grieve for the loss of a particular scumbag, it is not a good sign to see people get complacent over murder. It doesn't matter who gets murdered, next time it could be someone close to you. While catching these people is the responsibility of the Gardai/government, the attitude of the public is also critical. You won't see the Gardai breaking their backs to prevent future murders if the public are too complacent to kick up a stink about it.

I wouldn't laugh or glowth over the death of anyone either, but if mart wants to do that over this John Daly chap there's many who'll agree with him.

But thats getting away from the fact that Mordeth used marts partners religious to attack him. In my book thats pretty cowardly.

Mordeths actions are those of a despicable coward.

In fairness you are equating racism (knee jerk reactionism against a race for no reason) with a dislike for "scumbags" (not a race), who are people who habitually break the law and make the lives of everyone in the community a bit more miserable.

    Its not a fair comparison.

you give your moral compass an inch, it'll take a mile

once you start accepting ideas like 'who cares if they get killed, they're scum' it's not that slippery a slope to that idea morphing into other less desireable ones.

There's a touch of a difference between not caring that a criminal was killed and supporting the holocaust.

If the only way of getting the police to do their job is to keep harassing them into action then that's a problem with the police and not the public.

    Two ways to commit suicide:

    a) Kill yourself.

    b) Piss off some of the badest f**kers behind bars, and remove the sh|t they smuggled in from them.

Suicide by con (variation of suicide by cop if you will).

Don't tell me anyone here is crying into their cornflakes over this guy.
    Live by the sword etc..

Please let us not celebrate a murder though.

Just read yesterday though that we're going for a record year for murders this year. 25% up on last year already..

Thats just the way things work. If a society doesn't give a damn about clamping down heavily on a specific crime then it'll fall down the government's list of priorities. The government should bear responsibility for this stuff, not the gardai. And the public is responsible for giving the government a good kicking.

Yes, he is cowardly trying to evade a banning by using my partners religion to try get to me. But don't sweat it, I don't take offence.

And TBH for someone who say's he doesn't like me (oh what a childish thing to say online) I had to look up some of his posts to see who exactly he is. He mean's very, very little to me.

People who do mean something to me are scumbags who rob banks and post offices, who deal drugs on the streets and bring nothing but misery to our communities. So when one of these maggots gets killed I think its just deserts and another off the scene.

Honestly if all those scum in our communities where to meet up for a gang war in a field tonight and horribly murdered each other to the last dying man I'd be f**king delighted.

that's a nice sig image for somebody who's branding an entire section of our society as violent, agressive and worthless.

Way to go personal. I fail to see the connection here:

    * Jewish people, routinely treated like sh!t, killed in their millions when they were innocent of any crime.
    * Scum bags. Bring it all on themselves by being utter scum bags.

I get the feeling that if Mairt was taking your point of view you would immediately take the opposing view just to get some digs in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,790 ✭✭✭cornbb

You'd be delighted if they all murdered each other? So you think a sort of passive genocide would be handy for sorting out the country's crime problem?

    Jesus.

Do you any of you people think that the Media is in any way responsible for the current state of affairs with regard to gangland crime - Paul Reynolds and the likes glorify these people by giving them media space and giving them nicknames etc, and these drugged up lunatics think they are Tony Montana going around shooting people. There is blood on the hands of these journalists too.

There was another 'interview' today on Liveline with Paul Williams and two 'scumbags' one of whom was ringing from jail as far as I could gather. The guy being allowed on the programme from prison and Williams engaging in tit for tat banter with them was about as low as this Liveline programme can go. It’s Joe Duffy that should be in jail. If he wants to give these guys airtime he should read a signed statement. Glorifying them (and make no mistake - they are well up for all this publicity) on air is a serious slip in standards in the media and is similar in its seriousness to the throw away comments about murder that some posters are making here.

QFT. The public need to do whatever is possible to sort this out. I had a problem in my locality of an infinitely less serious nature but disturbing nonetheless. I made a statement to the Gardai as well as giving them video that took me many hours to collect over the course of as many weeks. The problem is now more or less sorted and last I heard, summonses were issued. Other in the area were not prepared to go the distance. The guard I was dealing with told me that when they received calls regarding the disturbances, they would ask for a statement only to be told ' Ahh sure, I just wanted to let you know'. For some reason I am not as tolerant as my neighbours.
