Insulating a new build - is this quote crazy?

    I know that this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" type question but I got a local firm in to give me a quote to do the full insulation job on my 2700sqft new build and was wondering whether the price they came up with is in the ball-park of what folks would expect.For;

    Supply and fit of bonded bead to 100mm cavity
    Supply and fit of 100mm insulation to sloping and flat part of attic
    Supply only - external wall insulated slabs,sloping and flat attic sections insulated slabs, insulation to cover first and second floor areas.

    = €24500.

    I know insulation is expensive but this seem a bit on the high side to me. I will price up all the materials myself but was wondering if anybody here was quotes for similiar types of work.

    Oh and for a BER energy rating and a blow door test they were looking for an additional €2200!!

    I'm not saying that these guys are expensive, but I saw a price for a blower door test in the US and it was approx €300...
    Maybe price around based on just the blower test and see what you get...

    Im sure there are people about Leeson Street in Dublin who would do a blow job for a fraction of that :D

    Seriously that quote you got is a bit OTT. As stated shop around.

    Have you had any luck obtaining a better price for insulating your house.

    I need to start looking for Insulation for a self build soon and was shocked when I saw your quote.

    I have budgeted 10k for insulation which I though was plenty for q 3300sq ft house. :confused:

    Just had a guy from another firm out today to do a quote. Expecting to hear back in a couple of days. Will let you know what he comes up with

    I'm an Architect/Builder and recently dry lined a 3,000 sq. ft house with 55mm Kingspan and plasterboard, skimmed. 400mm Rockwool in flat roof with Tri-sor foil insulation battens, plasterboard skim finish for 8,000 euro apprx. Made aprox. 1,500 profit.
    BER rating should cost 300 euro. Veryone's a BER assesor these days.
