Xsara beeps when started. What's wrong?

My 99 Xsara sometimes makes 1-3 beeps directly after it is started. The beeps comes from the dash but no warning lights come on. I'm not sure what it is trying to tell me. It doesn't happen every time it is started but more often when it is started from cold. Nothing in the manual really. Any ideas? Thanks
