    Hi all,

Im having a pretty big problem with Rome Total War - Gold Edition, and i'm wondering if any one else has encountered this. I got this edition when it came out, and it worked fine for me for ages. I uninstalled it a while ago, and when i re-installed it the other day, I wasn't able to play any of the campaigns. On either Rome or the Barbarian Invasion, the campaign loads, but once the red bar is full nothing else happens!

The music still plays for a while, but it never loads. Any help would be much appreciated

Not a clue really, but first thing to try is to reinstall - and preferably in a differently named folder.

I don't know if you have solved this problem or not but did you install any new operating systems since the uninstall? Or did you upgrade to Windows XP service pack 2?

If so, try going to the website of the game and check for any game updates/patches. Install those and see if that helps.

Something roughly similar happened to me before. Games that used to run on my PC weren't working anymore. The problem turned out to be the graphics card driver. I think I downloaded and installed the wrong one at some stage. All I had to do was get the latest correct driver off the manufacturers website (free download) and it fixed everything.

I had this same problem with Shogun: Total war. Couldn't even get it to reinstall.

    I had the same problem.
My solution was to eacamine the system registry and delete any mention of Rome or creative Assembly. It installed fine after that. I presume that the uninstall program for RTW failed to delete part of the registry so when you play the disc it is recognised as installed and doesn't give the option to reinstall. Backup registry 1st
