dont know to be honest just got an email back. that said i'll have to run around filling forms to get my money and then still no gaurentee. no third party made any transfer to my account its complete bs.

I just got the same email! Saying that it got a wire transfer from a third party?!!?!? Its pure madness!!

    I have to either:
    a) get a confirmation slip from my bank stating I made the transfer
    or
    b) print, fill out and post a big pdf with a certified copy of my passport in order to have my account made open for third party transfers.

    What crap!

this is clearly a ploy to get people to register and to make a few quid on the side. if it was for more money i would have to take legal action.sickening.

I just got out from talking to their representative in Second Life and she said they could not associate the lodgment I made with my account. There was no name with the lodgment. I wonder is this because I never filled out a lodgment form. The teller just did it all after I handed him the reference number and Wirecard bank account details.

Anyway it looks like I'll have to go through the verification process even though I'm a very light user.

Why not make it clear that you might have to verify at sign-up?

That would put off a lot of users.

Did anyone else verify their account with them? Do you really need two utility bills?

I've been meaning to for ages, just seems like so much effort! Not sure where to start, if anyone who has done it could give a run down, please do. I'm not even sure what Bank details I've to fill in, wirecards, AIBs, or what:o

It looks easy...they seem to only need your signature, home details and name. The rest is filled in by them. One of the forms is a copy to be kept by yourself.

The hassle is the certified passport (I have) and utility bills (which I don't have).

i sent a Eircom bill, esat(bt) bill, photo copy of my Passport signed by my local garda and the Konto_Antrag_Wirecard_englisch.pdf
Just fill in the first part and sign it, I didnt put my account number. Just make sure its the same details you give when making the account. I had to email them about 2 weeks after sending it as i didnt hear anything back from them.

I still haven't heard back from them since sending the screenshots they asked for. I'm not sending them any personal information full stop. You gotta be careful these days with identity theft ripe. Utility bills, maybe. But passport scan? No chance.

Anyway, it seems there's a whole bunch of us getting this same crap so something has obviously gone pear-shaped with the BOI account. What you can do is talk to your bank and get them to send you a paper printout/receipt of your transfer (even if it was electronic there is still a record). When I messed up my first payment (left out the account number. doh) the only way I could get them to accept the payment was mine was to send them this printout. Emails from AIB stating it was from me were no good to them. This printout will show the amount, the sender's name and the sort codes and account numbers of both parties. That will satisfy them.

I tried to make the point when I was on the phone that I did everything right at this end, so the mistake was clearly at their end and the onus shouldn't be on me to prove I sent the money. But if you want to move things along, talk to your bank and get this printout from them. I photographed the two pages (no scanner) and emailed them to expedite matters and the money showed up a day or two later.

Otherwise you could always just tell them to reject and turn the money and send it again by IBAN. In retrospect this may have been quicker. I really didn't expect them to be so slow and I'll be damned if I'm gonna ring Germany again to clear this up.

whole thing stinks. from a cynical point of view i could say that they let the first few transfers go through nice and quick to let one gain confidence then slap on the nonsense.very suspect. I have obtained written proof of the transfer.

    same here!

I'm getting very frustrated. Has anyone gone further with this, i.e. appealed to BOI or an Ombudsman. I'm seriously considering it, this is ridiculous and at this stage we should be getting compensated. My money has been in limbo for over 2 weeks, this is not acceptable.

How much did you lodge? Did you lodge it to the local Wirecard account in Dublin (BOI)?

You'll probably get the same email as myself and jackbauer about needing to verify your account.

If so it means the local accounts don't work without verification. This should be detailed on their website...its poor form from them.

It was only a small amount but it's the principle. There's something I need to buy and now cant. I transferred money to the BOI account the exact same way I'v been doing for months. I got the email and asked them what all this was about. They didnt give any explanation so I told them to return the money to my account. But still they are holding onto my money.

i'm in the exact same situation as karmabass. this looks like a standard tactic. very very disappointing and bad form. I dont see what we can do to be honest as any legal action would cost 100 fold what we lost and get nowhere and the worst of it is they know that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,854 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Has anyone had any problems doing the IBAN transfer through AIB? I've only had the delay I mentioned above but all monies have shown up so it's not as bad as the rest of your stories:(

A complaint to the Financial Ombudsman costs nothing. AFAIK you should make the complaint against the bank here in Ireland, as it was to them you entrusted your money, and let them take it from there. I know some of you have already complained directly to your bank but the involvement of a statutory body may make them show a little more urgency on your behalf.

not a bad idea i'll give it a go. no point in trying iban now as my account is "locked"

I wouldn't be much good at doing any of this stuff, anyone care to let me know how they got on and what way to approach it? This is clearly affecting alot of people and it's a disgrace.

Well, it's been a week now since I phoned them and the silence is deafening. Emailed them on Friday asking what the story is, but have heard nothing. Looks like I'm gonna have to phone them again this evening and get tough.

I had a look on their site and found this:
Wirecard Bank AG is a bank headquartered in Germany. It is regulated by the German Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).

A bit of google work got me to their complaints page (in English):

    http://www.bafin.de/beschwerden/beschwerden_bb_en.htm

    There's also an ombudsman page:

    http://www.bafin.de/beschwerden/beschwerden_ol_en.htm

    Links were got from:

    http://www.bafin.de/cgi-bin/bafin.pl?verz=0201000000&sprache=1&filter=a&ntick=0

So if you've lost patience (like I almost have) you might want to get in touch with them and see if things start moving a little quicker.

I'm still convinced BOI are at the heart of this mess (so contacting our own Financial Ombudsman is also worth a shot), but the lack of communication from Wirecard is really starting to piss me off at this stage.

Well that was pretty much a waste of time. Seems they hadn't done a whole pile with the info I emailed a week ago. This time I was told that as it has been 2 weeks since the transfer it might be on it's way back to the mysterious third party (aka ME). That apparently takes about the same time as it does to get there, so perhaps by the end of the week it will be back in my AIB account and then I'll IBAN it right back. Still no clue as to what went wrong.

I asked about the €300 weekly limit and was told that this has definitely been lifted (because people who transferred anything over it were getting their accounts locked). Something I was told just after though has left me with another question.

The girl said that I'd "lodged €100 so you have €2400 left" (or words to that effect). Considering that she was talking about the total of my first two (successful) lodgements I wonder if the €2500 limit is actually an annual one. In other words you can only lodge up to €2500 in a year, rather than it being a limit to what you can hold in your account at any one time. That's enough for me (especially with the success rate I'm having with lodgements in the first place) but might be worth verifying for those that use it frequently.

Honestly it's starting to feel more like a detective show than anything else. Picking up scraps of clues and trying to piece together what this is and how it works. Midsomer Bankers...

Pretty sure Protocol is talking about his unverified account? So is the limit €2,500 now? Wasn't it 2K before? And there's definitely no weekly limit with wire now?

Limit was, for unverified accounts, €2500 per year, €300 per week.

Yup, I was talking about unverified accounts.

The €300 weekly limit seems to have been removed for wire transfers alright. It still applies to lodgements by credit card.

Somewhere along the way I got the impression that the €2500 limit was a balance one, rather than an annual lodgement one. Either way it wouldn't affect me.
