Better using vodafone software on Three/3 3g network?

I've changed the software on the 3 datamodem that I got to the vodafone mobile software. This is the one that they give you when you go to the Huawei driver page for the E220. I've tried the 7.2 firmware (ie the software in the modem). It didn't seem to make much of a difference either way. I personally didn't like using the "mobile connect" software (ie the software on the computer), so I changed that back to the 3 software.
