I want to transfer a file to a Ubuntu server that I am running in vmware fusion.
    The server IP is 192.168.1.20.

I have done this before on a Windows Machine to Ubuntu server but I have not got a clue how to do it on Mac.

I have tried Go -> Connect to server -> enter IP but I can't connect.

Is there any tool that I can use to do this?

No experience of vmfusion or Ubuntu but normally in Mandriva I use Samba to share a folder. Ubuntu Server should have this service running. Then it should appear in the Network location in any Finder window.

You could also try ftp. Connect To Server > ftp://<ip address of ubuntu server>

    This might also be relavent.
