I've often wondered if a player could develop the ability to hit the sliotar 140 meters consistantly and accurately. Would he be able to take every puck out from each wide/score from the opposition and hit it over the bar for a point?

I don't think there's anything that sez otherwise. Must consult the rule book.

Tbh, there are a few players that aren't too far off hitting a sliotar that far.

I remember being at a league final replay in Thurles a few years back , Cork v Wexford. Ger Cunningham was landing his puck outs almost into the Wexford square. He had an awsome puck.

It was just that I was reading that a goalkeeper in a club game in Galway last weekend landed a point from a 120m free.

You can score from frees and sideline pucks, and a puck out would be no different. So if a player was able to hit it that far, then yes he could score a point, or a goal.

If they do develop that sort of distance, will the PTB change the sliotar like the seemingly never ending fight with the javelin in athletics?

I don't think there is much danger of many players developing that sort of distance, so it wouldn't be a problem.
