Kildare is a lovely place to live - low crime rate, easy to commute to Dublin and also reasonably priced :D

That's the place on the dart route that I note all the people wearing pretentious - Calvin Klein get off.

    killaloe, east clare, lovely spot:)

I was going to say that too, but I remember wandering around Killaloe one fine sunny afternoon and coming across the housing estate at the top of the hill, Crumlin in Clare ;)

My vote goes for the other side of Derg, any where around Garrykennedy or Dromineer.

I think you'll find that is anywhere between Sydney Parade and killiney.

Blackrock is noticeable mainly because of the amount of Canterbury leisure wear worn by the locals.

Ya reckon? I grew up there as a kid, and am renting there again (spent about 16 years of my life here). Would never have thought it one of the nicest places in Ireland, although I am fond of it.

Not sure I'd rate Malahide too high either - it's got some lovely restaurants and houses'n'stuff but it's got only a crappy Supervalu supermarket to shop in (a run down one at that) short of heading off to Tescos. Never really was that fond of its village centre, even as a kid when we used to go the library there, although the Marina is nicely done.

As to Blackrock - it is a nice place and was good to work in (did so for two years). Good mix of shops and, unlike Malahide, it has a couple of big supermarkets to get goods in. Nice park as well, when the weather's good.

Howth is good and Sutton, where I spent the second half of my formative years growing up, is a lovely place too although perhaps a bit dull for some (mostly just houses). Maybe it's the legacy of living either side of it, but I'd never have put Baldoyle in this list as one poster did.

It has to be on the Ross road just outside Killarney. The views are exceptional. Nicest place in the world........... except for the American tourists roaming the streets looking for leprauchans.

The village I come from (not saying where) :D It's surrounded on three sides by the sea, amazing views of the coast and Achill, 2 mins walk from a mile long deserted sandy beach etc.......

The only thing is there's nothing to do, no broadband and you'd need to be on Prozac or something as the winter is horrendous.

Isn't there some rule in Sutton that there'll never be a pub (except for the one in the hotel) or a bookies there? Hence the dullness for some people I suppose but must be a nice place to bring up a family.

Well you're almost right, they were talking about the worst place to live in Dublin in the Dublin forum.

Anywhere near the sea is going to be good, but if you add two types of public transport and good housing, near the capital, and a nice café culture its going to be great.

I would vote for anywhere near the sea.

Ah mariaalice, don't be shy, say it loud and say it proud!!

Bray all the Way. Wouldn't live anywhere else. It's a different place since Dublins finest moved on to pastures new in Howth and Portmarnock during the Summers.

Que all the tired old cliches to be spouted by the morons....
