Sigmatek xs-520 - utter garbage

    So just got this today from pixmania.

    Emailed them for technical advice pre purchase and they said they didnt offer any technical support or advice and contact the manufacturer (!)

    Knew it was cheap but all I wanted to do was play some avis and hopefully also play some subtitles (eg SRT files) also.

    Have 6 perfect dvd-rs with 3 avis on each.

    Result: only 3 dvds are readable (all are perfectly fine on laptop)
    No mpeg subtitle support
    Menu system in french
    Batteries in remote didn't work

    I will be binning this tomorrow. I only gave the silvercrest 6/10 but this gets 0/10. Utterly terrible. Has anyone else got one of these? Perhaps I got a bad one ?

    Sigmatek have a habit of not supporting their players you can see on the unofficial sigmatek forum (which is largely French but some English sub forums) the XM-400 Pro was very popular with lots of unofficial firmware updates, you could try looking for an update to the XS-520 but I would not get my hopes up.

    sigmatek??? even by the name you can tell it's going to be crap.

    and to be honest, what were you expecting of it for ~€30??
