    Back Ground Music

The channels just seems to be a bulletin board type service. Very little info on their web site either. Only came across it myself last week.

What's the story with the ITV channels over here I notice that they seem to be gone from Sky too, have they ordered providers over here to stop showing it or what ? I'd be very surprised if they have as they are very popular channels

You are right, ITV asked for the extra ITV channels to be removed.

Thanks Mossy for that, any clues as to why ITV have done this ?
I see that on the Sky adverts that come in the papers that it still says you get ITV2,3 and 4 free with the mix you pick from them, wonder why they're still saying you can get these when you can't cause I went through the Sky channels a while ago and they're definitely gone from the line up.

Something called DCTV on ch 802 now - I've never heard of this before. It is showing an Adult Education programme and something called Dublin Environment is on at 11pm.

Is this the return of Link from the dead?

I think it might very well be.

Surely there are more entertaining FTA channels they could look at providing. People aren't going to say "Ooh Link is back, I best ditch the dish and get NTL."

I have no idea what channels are FTA but I would imagine Sky have a few alright ones that us NTL customers would like.

I agree with you 100%,there are much better channels NTL should be offering than this Community Channel but that's NTL for you.

Why are they FTA ( Free to air) undecoded so

Just thinking the same, why tell SKY and NTL to remove them from their line up yet broadcast them that they can still be received, makes no sense.

i suspect mossymonk may be talking throught a round piece of his body (hole) i'm very sure sky/ntl are paying to have said channels... and if there paying for them you'll get them

If I remember correctly this channel won the right to broadcast from the BCI as a Dublin only cable distributed channel. Wonder if DCTV are playing for carriage or if UPC must carry it.

DCTV (Dublin Community Television) is a new community TV channel, similiar to Cork and Navan as far as I know. Funding comes via the BCI Sound and Vision Scheme, and UPC must carry DCTV as part of their remit. Content will be provided by a number of community media outlets including NearTV Productions. It's early days yet.
