Removing Paint from Guitar/Bass Body

Got my hands on a bass guitar body to play around with. I want to repaint it and I need to remove the paint that's on it now. I have never done anything like this before so I'm looking for any tips or anything people can tell me about doing this? Also, suggestions on type of paint to use etc when I get whats on it now off…

I did this with an old knock off Les Paul (should be a thread around here somwhere).

Got all the paint off using some sandpaper and nitromores in the end... Looked fairly good when I got it finished (if I do say so myself )
