Interesting news, Michael Bay has posted on his official blog/site that paramount has pissed him off with their dropping of blu-ray.
I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!

not sure whether that is a good thing or a bad thing.

i can understand writing a blog post about your lack of understanding of paramounts move (no one gets it, since blu-ray software sales are higher then hd-dvd), but to not do a movie over it is a bit ridiculous.

as someone said in the ps forum, upscaled dvd ftw...

That decision is as retarded as Bay's movies. Still, great news! Hopefully he'll quit the business altogether!

He's taking his ball and going home. In fairness, a sequel would most likely be shìte

Is that real? Did he really say that?

Just when I thought he couldn't be more of a muppet. Toys out of pram galore.

    Very silly indeed.
As I read he was holding off signing on because he was using it as leverage for a bigger budget so that there could be more Tranformers.
Best he could hope for now is to go crawling back...then where will his leverage be.

This only a day after he said he was happy to do 4, 5 and 6. Bay has finally lost it.

They'll only go and hand the project over to some other hollywood douche bag like Brett Ratner.

Transfomers is a load of over-hyped tosh. How can any educated person leave the cinema after watching that thinking 'Yea, that was class'.

Quite easily. You can't really go to see it expecting depth and charachter development. Its about giant robots disgused as cars ffs.

well I thought it was fantastic, probably because I walked in expecting a big pile of shíte, and that's what I saw, but a big pile of shíte with robots = teh win

Not everything has to be deep and meaningful. I like good character development and moving story lines but a bit of popcorn fun I can enjoy aswell. There is no need to look down your noes at it.

Because they expected silly, fun entertainment and may have gotten it? I know I did. I didn't want something cerebral or educational because I wanted to leave my brain behind. Got what I paid for.

Don't worry that wasn't directed at you. Someone else asked "How can any educated person leave the cinema after watching that thinking 'Yea, that was class'."

This upsets me not. The movie will still be made, its too much of a cash cow not to be. But this means theres a chance a better director will put a better spin on it, making the transformers the main characters and largely cutting out the military. Anything after that and i dont care. Stick to letting the techies sort out the battle sequences, and ideally actually have the camera in positions where you can see everything which happens.

Of course there is always the chance someone even worse will get it but fingers crossed. Nightmare scenario = Uwe Boll Presents "Transformers".

    Or maybe a worse scenario...

    Ang Lee presents Transformers 2

The $200mil epic robot sequel where Lee delves into a deep examination of the Autobot pscyhe + no action scenes  *snore*

Would Spielberg do it instead? Anyone but Brett Ratner:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Dunno about Ratner. Surely his first move, ala Xmen 3, will be to kill off the main 2 characters, Prime & Bumblebee in the first 20mins :/

God I hope they don't get rid of Prime. He's too cool to kill off ffs. Just thekind of thing Ratner would do though.

The reason I didn't like Transformers as much as many others: Too many stupid humans. The robots were side characters in their own film FFS. :(

What's wrong with good old DVD anyway?

Are those posts really by Bay though? You'd expect a director to be a bit more informed about Blu Ray / HD-DVD. He's now basing him doing a sequel on the fact that "300 rocks" on HD-DVD. Fair enough, it does but should he not have done and do more research before deciding to do sequels. Sounds like an idiot.

Where exactly does all this Michael Bay bashing come from?
    Is it just Pear Harbour?
Because if anyone bothers to look, they'll see he has some class films under his belt.
Like....Bad Boys 1 & 2, Armageddon, The Rock and The Lionel Richie Collection.

i think it comes from the first two questions Bay asks when he sees a script.

    1. Where is the love interest, cause people don't relate to movies unless there is a love interest.
    2. How many things can i blow up....can i blow up that catering truck? That chair over there looks like it could have a cool explosion, can i blow it up?

I don't know about Lionel Richie... but all of those were terrible, terrible films...

Téa Leoni was nice to look at in Bad Boys though...
