Rumor has it that some very bad news is going to be made public this coming Tuesday in regards to Shannon airport, anyone got any idea what it may be?

aer lingus are stopping their flights from shannon to heathrow and moving them to belfast (aldergrove)

were duscussing it on the limerick city board if your interested

Perhaps Shannon Airport should look at enticing the budget airlines market more.

Its a shocking decision by Aer Lingus. If they needed the Heathrow landing slots so badly for Belfast why couldn't they have taken one flight a day from Shannon, Cork and Dublin?

I totally agree, this decision to effectively move jobs from Midwest region to the North is disgraceful.
Where the hell are our TD's now ?
This could spell trouble unless another airline can take this route to Heathrow.
No businessman is going to want to fly to stanstead or gatwick over heathrow for the most part

RyanAir have said they would take over the SNN - Heathrow route. They own 25% of Aer Lingus as well. Not sure what the story is with landing permission in Heathrow though.
