    Hi All

Just wondering does anyone know a way of getting some of the UK stations in Sligo!! I do not want to get a dish or aerial as we are in a rented house and not sure how logn we will be there! Would like to avoid the whole monthly subscrition thing too so a portable solution would be great!! Currently we can only get a pretty fuzzy rte one and two!!

    Cheers:)

How would you expect to receive anything with no aerial or dish?

    Hi

I heard there was a box you could get where you could get stations!! Can you get this and an aerial which is a portable solution?

I have a 65cm dish from Maplin mounted on a concrete paving slab (flagstone) sitting in the back garden pointed at 28 deg East

I have a FTV (Freesat) Digibox so I get all the BBC and ITV channels and with the FTV card I can get Channels 4 & 5 as well

when I move house Ill just take the dish/slab and digibox with me

Oh and I dont pay any subscription (other than to Auntie Beeb)

    Hi Ulsterman

Many thanks for your help on this.. Where did you get your digibox?
Just one other question is there much wiring and setup for this solution??

    Cheers

Bought the digibox from simplydigital but I dont think they would sell a system with a card to anyone without a UK address (maybe you have friends or family you could ask)

The dish/LNB/cables came from maplin. While the paving slab (and drill bits) came from a local builders merchant :D

If you can live without Channels 4 and 5 satellite.ie can sort you with a FTA system (dish and reciever)

The only tricky part setting it all up is aligning the dish on the correct satellite (see the wiki/sticky threads) Having a signal meter is a big help when doing this bit (In theoy you can get by without one if you have A LOT of time and patience)

I found Ulsterman that 28.5 came straight away (well, maybe 5 mins) hence no need for signal meter, same again when I changed my dish. FOund it horribly difficult to get hotbird or astra 1 however!
