    Gumtree is big in London for rentals, not sure bout Manchester

    www.gumtree.com is the way to go..

    It does indeed have a london bias, but its brilliant :)

    Gumtree tends to be only classified ads. If you want something similar to daft.ie then try either UpMyStreet or findaproperty.com

    fair enough, but I lived in the UK for 5 years and found every single place I lived in via the gumtree..

    Loot is the buy and sell equivalent - and is massive, and comes out several times a week. My own personal experience, is that when we put an add for a house mate in it, we always got weirdo's - so only used it when desperate :)
