There's the ones who smell like they're decomposing as well. Man, can they not shower?

I dunno what's up with them. They should be given those sit-in baths for free and free pass's for the laundry. That'd solve the problem.

This is complete and utter horse ****. swan is not poart of the eastern european diet.

Also it would be easier to eat a size eight boot than to eat a swan due to the toughness of swan meat.

The chances are, as was the case down here, swans were being used by local scumbags for target practice with airguns/shotguns/pelletguns

A free bullet to the head would also solve the problem.

Gee JOKER.......... you're story referenced the UK (a whole other country) not Ireland. I mentioned IRELAND. Did you read my response or just skim?

BTW- what's the situation with the wildlife in the US? There must be none left. After all America is a land built upon immigration and there are huge communities of Eastern European's there. I guess the only wildlife left is that which is in the zoo's eh?

Where exactly did i say that they were eating them in Ireland?

so it's a giant conspiracy? Seems kind of ridiculous to make something like that up.

Not a conspiracy, an urban myth.

    From Wikipedia:
Urban legends are a kind of folklore consisting of stories often thought to be factual by those circulating them. Urban legends are sometimes repeated in news stories and, in recent years, distributed by email. People frequently say such tales happened to a "friend of a friend" - so often, in fact, that FOAF has become a commonly used acronym to describe this sort of story. Urban legends are not necessarily untrue, but they are often false, distorted, exaggerated, or sensationalized.

Seriously togster. That's not constructive or helpful and only fuels the situation in favour of posters who would post in support of these silly claims.

Edit - Oh and he's actually already in America.

Oh sorry bout that. The plane ticket is so he can get outside of his own country (USA) and come and realise the UK isn't part of ireland and that in fact eastern europeans don't eat swans and that durka durka isnät how the rest of the world refers to muslims.
Hope that was more constructive. :D

FREDDIE POLLAK ATE MY HAMSTER!!!!

pvt.joker- in relation to the heated posts most irish are relaxed, laid back types (just like our stereotype : ), boards can be somewhat, eh, disproportionate in terms of opinion. re these stories, may be true, might not be. To dismiss anything out of hand makes as much sense as those who claim it as gospel fact, neither side can prove or disprove. Dont believe it is a large scale problem, if an issue at all, myself, but anyone who is claiming it has never happened as an actual fact hasnt any grounds to base it on.

They used to say Chinese restaurents cooked sray cats, dogs and rats back in the day, but tbh going out to catch stray animals sounds like more effort than buying legitimate meat.

Thats complete BULL. There was a story like that in the Limerick papers a while back and it turned out to be guys with too much time on there hands making up stories

The UK isn't part of Ireland? Really?

I also love the hypocrites here. "Eastern Europeans don't eat swans and then i'm going to post a few random american stereotypes"

    laughable

One American stereotype out of a thread of 51 replies. That's not bad!

This is afterhours. I read the article and laughed and thought i would post it. I didn't know people would get their panties in a knot about it lol

As for chinese food, i personally witnessed skinned cats being sold in chinatown in philadelphia and also a deer being drug into the backdoor of a chinese restaraunt. Hence the reason i haven't eaten it in about 15 years

Unfortunately in After Hours personal experiances just don't cut it. People wants hard facts, proof that these things have happened. Anyone can have had any sort of a personal experiance to back up their claims.

Well I know from personal experience that hard facts don't prove anything. :p

The american bashing is unfair alright but the propogation of the swan-eating stories is pretty hard on the eastern europeans who live here. I lived with a Polish girl who got pretty upset when that story was published in the Limerick Post last year. I guess its the fault of the seedy xenophobic journalists though, not the readership.

I count three in that one post alone, but what do i know since i can't even locate my own country on a map

I don't think blame can be totally put upon the journalists, although they certainly deserve their fair share. Whatever happened to common sense? It's society on a whole that really needs to cop on.

Why the consternation? - It's all simple really
    Polish people eat swans,
Chinese people skin cats and drug deer at back doors:confused: ,
Roma Gypsies masquerade as polish people and beg in remote rural locations for tins of Mr Sheen,
    Americans make Irish people laugh,
    Irish people are smart arses.

And these are hard facts - I read them in the National Enquirer.
