Now Dreamer 7, it may be the hangover, it may be the cranky fcuker inside of me or maybe its just Pighead being harsh but this is quite possible the worst thread of the week.

In Pigheads mind your opening post reads like:

I am Dreamer 7, i like daisychains. When I was a little boy, me and my mammy and my daddy went to the field in the village beside us and we made daisychains all day long. It was the best day of my life. Whats your favourite usage of daisys?

Pighead realises its Friday but c'mon buddy your better than this.

Would they not have had to be here in the first place for them to be brought back?

And the last thing we need is more bleedin donuts

    Dough...nut?

I liked the ones you could get on the other side of O'Connell street. They were cheaper and tastier. Can't remember the name of the place. It was a little shop at the front of an arcade. Many, many years ago.

Krispykremes for the win. Somebody is going to make a lot of money when they get an irish franchise for them.

Sweet jebus don't tell me you actually ate those donuts? A friend of mine told me they had enough fat dripping off them to keep a chipper going for a month

The smell was always enough to make me gag any time I went past.

OP, wasn't/isn't there a DD in UCD?

    I couldn't stomach them after I turned 13 or 14.
They were/are the greasiest things on earth.
Great when you're a kid though.

He's more of a hit and run poster.

Also, I seem to remember a few franchises in service stations around the country.
Don't know if they're still there though.

I remember that for a short while in either 1995 or 1996 there was a Dunkin Donuts outlet at the end of the bar in the Maynooth University Students Union!!

    It was BRILLIANT!!

There was also a DD in Janelle in Finglas back in the day.

    God I'd love one now....

On a recent trip to the States, I bought a dozen box (only $6?!).....I couldnt move for quite some time afterwards.

Oh there was, Janelle and crazy prices what a blast from the past.

Tescos in there and most tescos do boston creme but they are not the same.

Ah yas, when I was 14 it was a ritual to meet in town outside stephen's green park then promptly off to Dunken doughnuts!

What ever happened to them? They were always packed when ever I went in, why did they close?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,420 ✭✭✭stooge

I remember the dunkin donuts when I went to college . they had a deal that you get a free donut and coffee if you buy a sandwich.

I liked the ones with icing and the sprinkley thousands and millions things. Also, for the sandwich it had to be chicken, bacon and salad.

Then they closed down to be replaced by some fancy coffee shop..booooooo

Ah the memories. Dunkin Donuts kept me in employment for a couple of years while in college about 11 or 12 years ago. I worked in every branch at some stage, they were
    Tallaght, the Square,
Janelle as someone already pointed out
    Ballyfermot
    Grafton Street
    UCD
    Rathmines
can't remember if I missed anything there, and then they started opening some small ones in Texaco garages.

Used to hate working in Ballyfermot because of the scum it attacted (not saying Ballyer people are scum), UCD because many of the students looked down their nose at you not realising that I wouldn't let my B.Sc that I was working on at the time anywhere near my arse, unlike many of their Arts Degrees, and Rathmines because of the sheer amount of weirdos who hung around for hours every night over one cup of coffee and that you couldn't get rid of closing time.

They used to sell some amount of Boston Cremes indeed, but I don't know where the idea came from that there were dripping in fat ?!?

There is a place on O'Connell Street these days that sells Donuts which another poster has confused with Dunkin Donuts.
