Heading to Inishbofin for a weekend soon, anyone know of good places to camp on the island? Besides from the hostel campsite. Also, best pub to go to would be good...
    Cheers.

Camping near the hostel would probably be best in terms of access to facilities. The west end is beautiful but very exposed to the elements. There's a beautiful beach down the east end called Duach (sp?) - but it may not be possible to camp there as it is a conservation area. Maybe try the east end village? You could always pop into the Galley restaurant down there & ask if they could recommend somewhere.

As for the best pub - The new bar in the Dolphin restaurant isn't my cup of tea - a bit too polished & shiny. The Pier Bar is good craic though. Always a few heads knocking about for a bit of craic.

My fave place is the bar in the Doonmore Hotel up towards the west quarter. The view from the bar is amazing. If the weather is good you can sit outside, watch the Atlantic & get pleasantly bladdered. The pub grub in the hotel is great too.

On most Saturday nights The Inishbofin Ceili Band play in the Doonmore. They are fantastic musicians! If you do go to see them play - watch out for Francis O'Halloran - he's got a mop of curly hair. He really is probably one of the finest fiddle players in the world. And the bodhran player - Michael Joe O'Halloran - is a giant of a man with one of the sweetest voices you'll ever hear. You'll not be disappointed.
