    Hi all

We have a new house and some of the doors open and close on their own ( there are no ghosts!!). if you open a door halfway it will either fully open or close without help. I put a level on them and the frames and they seem to be square, any ideas on how to prevent this as it is driving me mad!!!

    Thanks

Place the level on the hinge side of the door, on the door face. If the frames are level on the architrave face, the problem is either of the hinges is too far inwards or outwards from the frame. Loosen the screws of the offending hinge, and move towards the door rebate , or away from it.

Remember the frame should be level on 2 of its adjoining faces, not one only.
