I saw this Renault 18 on the way back from the Terenure car show. It's in good condition:

That's a Silver Cloud III. Mid sixties or thereabouts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,266 ✭✭✭MercMad

Yes the production of the Cloud ended in '65, there were many incarnations before that !

Beautiful cars indeed, the Shadow arrived around this time, and was apparantly easier to build, there weren't as many specials, but it did not have the grace of this car !

Seeing as you can ick up a ropey one for £1500 in the UK it's hard to say.. There is a vast difference in values of good ones and poor ones so you should be guided by the quality of your own car. Mine is mint but don't reckon I'd get much more than €10k for it.. I've spent that much on it since I bought it and that's not including what I paid for it!!
Keep all receipts and documents, only get top quality work done and it should stand to you in the end..

Good luck & let me know if you buy the M635.

    Carlosfandango

It's probably worth more to me at this stage - I would estimate that I too have spent more than it is worth

Still, I love the car, I know I would feel bad if I got rid of it.

Not long after spending quite a bit on the M5 (new clutch, new tyres, inspection II, ALL sensors replaced etc..) so everything will be put on hold for a while - well, until she forgets :D

    Richie.

Something a little different and 20 years old. Ive seen it around for at least 12 years but cant figure out from the reg plate if it was imported new or imported before 1995. The car is a 1987 Oldsmobile 88 Delta.

I always liked those cars for some reason, as well as many other 1980's American gas-guzzlers. They were popular undercover cop cars in the States in the 80's.

I remember seeing a similar coloured one going around about a year ago with Dutch plates. Never got a picture of it though.

I remember seeing an identical car parked out by the Anglers Rest YEARS ago. Don't ask how many years, but its a long time ago. I remember it because it was the first time I ever saw an olds. I was there with my parents... I was too young to drive!

The reg is 87 LD 561 (I think!) which would suggest that it was originally imported in 1987 but you can't be sure without getting a report on it!

Incorrect. The '87 reg. suggests that the car was first registered in 1987 (obviously!), weather it was in this country or America.

Useless fact of the day: Cartell says that the Olds has a 3.5L engine. ;)

He had a Midlands Auto Club (I think) sticker in the back window, so I guess it's one of their meets.

It's the fact that the number is 87 LD 561 that would suggest that the car was registered in Ireland during 1987 as Longford registrations should have gone well past this figure during the year (1200-1500?).

P.S. What's the weather got to do with it anyway? :D;)

Perhaps they wouldn't have gone past 561 in 1987. The country was on it's knees then and new car registrations were at a minimal level. Longford is also the second lowest populated county.
