    was on their family web site, this is why they have so many kids
    Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar married July 21st, 1984. At that time, they chose to use the birth control pill. They thought, “We don’t want children right now. We can’t afford them. We want children in our timing, when we’re ready.” Four years later they decided to have their first child. Then, Michelle went back on the pill, but she conceived and had a miscarriage. At that point they talked with a Christian medical doctor and read the fine print in the contraceptives package. They found that while taking the pill you can get pregnant and then miscarry. They were grieved! They were Christians! They were pro-life! They realized that their selfish actions had taken the life of their child. They prayed and asked God to forgive them, and to teach them to love children like He loves children. They asked God to bless them with as many children as He saw fit in His timing. Right after that Michelle got pregnant with twins! To date they have been blessed with 16 children, (10 boys and 6 girls) Joshua, Jana & John-David (twins), Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah & Jeremiah (twins), Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah (& Jennifer due July 28, 2007).

    it be great to have loads of siblings.. three in ours, i'm only girl, my parents owe me a sister (ok, i'll let it go at their age :D ).. i'd have big family myself but its just not affordable

    Do the EU not dump 100's of millions of euro's worth of food every year? The reason people in developing countries are starving is because they can't produce the food because of poverty, famines, poor farming techniques etc.

    why is this a problem for us in the west though? we're the rich ones, we pretty much run the world, sure we'd probably have to share with china, india.. and a few other countries that have nukes, but why exactly, if there ever comes a time when there is just enough food to feed a tiny % of the worlds population, would the powers that be allow that food to be shipped anywhere but to their own citizens?

    If an almost worldwide famine occurs, we have the resources and ability to start producing our own food.. we'd have to sacrifice alot but we would still survive. Diseases, we have vaccines.. maybe not enough for everybody for every disease, but certainly far more than in any of the developing countries.

    natural resources.. ??? if we run out of oil all that is going to happen is that the oil based economies will crash, yeah it's going to be horrible but it's not the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination. If we have to, we will start breeding horses again and chop down whatever trees are left to make carriages. It will take longer I'm sure, but I do hear alot of people complaining about this fast paced lifestyle of ours.. maybe it would be a good thing?

    mass immigration.. uh.. close the borders? It's not going to happen now or any time in the near future, but should there be a worldwide disaster which causes a large percentage of the earths human population to start emmigrating en masse.. do you really think thge developed countries are going to put their own well being at risk to help them?

    Over fishing.. stop eating fish, well that was easy.

    Overpopulation is not a problem in the western world. Most people choose to have smaller families, and those that do decide to have larger ones are in an ever decreacing minority. The few people who choose to have large families are not going to affect you in any way, except if you piss off somebody with lots of brothers, so whats your problem?
    Like I said, I am from a large family myself, and have five kids of my own, and the only problem I have ever had was stupid comments from people who weren't affected one way or the other.

    Now there's a family who once the kids Grow up, start paying Taxes, can support the Ageing population and their pensions and contribute to the economy at the same time.
    What happens when they need pensions is another story but we'll probably all be dead by then.

    when the show was filmed, the oldest was 17, and they were talking about him dating. He said he was looking for his soul mate!!! He is 17!!!! Does he need to get laid or what:)

    theyre always on the discovery channel!they dont depend on the state though,and they built their own house!they made all the kids help.They said theyre not going to try stop having kids eitherh
