€1000 to spend on AV Amp and Speakers

    But what the heck do I buy?? Been reading a lot but not really any closer to a decision.

    What I would like to get is:

    2 x HDMI in, ! x out, with audio.
    Upscaling to 1080p
    Floor standing 5.1/6.1 speakers.

    Is this enough of a budget? Maybe this is more of the budget/all-in-one range?

    Planning to get a Denon DVD1930 (outside of above budget). Can get for around €300 online. Anyone know of one as good as this but with USB and DivX, which the Denon doesn't have.

    What HiFi are doing an Amp/Speaker Combo group test in their 28 July issue, but I was hoping to have everything sorted by then.

    Any and all comments greatly appreciated. EDIT: Really need the advice as I seriously could end up buying a good amp and crap speakers, or blowing the speakers or something. :D

    the amps i was recommending to you were all around the €1000 price mark. if you have a budget of a grand for amp & speakers, then i would recommend the Sony STR-DA1200 amp @ €599. speakers... im not too up on the budget range of speakers, any of the speakers i have experience with would be relatively expensive. Although i have heard that Jamo make nice speaker kits at fairly reasonable prices.

    There's new Sony 910 amp coming out this month, should be around 550-600 Euros has 2 hdmi inputs one output and can handle the uncompressed PCM from the PS3.

    Cheers guys... the €1000 budget is hereby ripped up! Looks like I'll have to double that at least if I want to get what I'm looking for.

    New Onkyo 605 released in europe in the last week, can handle everthing, you can pick them up for around 540.

    Cheers Snake. Any link to the 605? Can only see it at 600. Very good amp by the looks of things, but a little quirky I think.
