I posted this in here as it's related to older cars. I am on the look out for a Microfiche Viewer for large format parts slides which were used by Opel and Ford in the past.

Anyone know where there may be one sitting idle?

You could try ring arund a few of the older main dealers - they may have them lying around somewhere and might be prepared to part with them for free/small fee. Some vehicle importers may have them too.

Another option would be to try to the likes of Agfa and other companies who manufactured these things.

Try a Library. I know there is such a viewer in DIT Bolton Street. However, i do not think the librarians there will allow a randomer to use it. but, if they have one, surely other bigger and older librbries will have them.....

Use a flatbed scanner with a transparency adaptor?

I have some fiche for both Unimog and Range Rover, so would appreciate if you could confirm that the flatbed scanner will do. I have an Epson Perfection 1650 scanner.

I can't confirm it will work, but if you have a flatbed with a lightsource in the lid it should work. They can scan slides and negatives, and the principles are similar.
