    Hi All,

I am doing some market research for a business plan, and was wondering how many golfers there are in Ireland? If any one has any idea of the figure, I would appreciate it if you could let me know...

    Cheers,

    Dave

With regard to my above post, I since answered my own question!

For anyone who is interested, a very interesting article with regard to golf stats in Ireland and the EU, visit:

I had read recently that Ireland has the highest percentage of the population playing golf at 7%. The article seems to agree! Scotland are a distant second at 5% and most other countries are less than 2%. Where do we find the time???

England has the biggest golf course liquidation rate i read somewhere, semingly the 1980's boom in golf gave a genius idea for golf courses to be built everywhere.

You can join as a full member in london in a top course for 600 total for a year, incl your joining fee :(

Look at the graph, England has 44% of the courses and only 33% of the golfers!

(and I bet they don't have the majority share of tourists either!)
