And please dont talk about production values or acting, its a tongue in cheek ad that is a bit of craic. I thought it was funny the first time i saw it anyway.

I deny your request. Bad acting distracts from any production, tonuge in cheek or not. I want to punch that girl in the face. I assume this is not the impression McDonalds were going for.

Surely thats sarcasm. By the way, he's poplular in Belgium...no idea why...probably coz they're weird.
Irelands entry came last. The woman cannot sing. Johnny Logan can sing. It's hard to imagine him doing as bad, he could not do worse. Why do you say Belgium people are weird? Do you know any?

I'd imagine he knows a few Belgians with a location such as 'Leuven, Belgium'.

Yes but look at the post he was replying to. I would assume the Eurovision people would see through us entering the same guy we won with years ago with the same song. I'm assuming thrill doesnt realise "hold me now" was already a Eurovision song.

Maybe the guy's just hard up at the moment and needs the money.

I remember he was on the late late a few weeks back and Pat was like 'WHY?'

I imagined his answer should have been like Krusty's: 'They drove a dumpster truck of money to the door of my house! I'm not made of stone!'

    HA HA HA!

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

lol, I don't think "corporations" and "conscience" should be used in the same sentence tbh. Lost their conscience? Since when did corporations have a conscience in the first place?

I mean honestly I hate all this ridiculous overt advertising, but for the sake of ease, most of the time I just ignore that fact and laugh at the stupidity of the ads.

The ad in question is hilarious.

    The ad is pretty funny.
As for corporations having a conscience, they have to show that they have a social conscience(working witht he environment etc most of the time, as it makes their shares do better.

These ads are better than the other one they're running at the moment about how brilliant it is to be a mcdonalds burger-flipper-that-works-his-way-up-to-manager despite the constant slagging you get :)

Went to a presentation given by one of the people involved in this ad amongst others.

Its not suggesting stuffing hamburgers down your throat when you are unhappy, if you will look more closely, the implication is that mcdonalds can comfort you once in a while when you might need it.

the whole positioning is that teenage life can be tough, and where else but mcdonalds can you buy something for a euro and hang around all day.

Your living cuckoo land if you actually believe that IMHO.

Anyone recall last year he did some pimped out video collabo with an r&b singer from the continent, birds, champagne and white pimp suit in the vid

Was watching Reeling in the Years 1987 last night, when he won. Christ hes always been as much of a knob, even back then.

What an idiot came up with that commercial and what an ever more of an idiot allowed it to air?

Well you seem to be talking about the ad so that "idiot" you speak of seems to have done a good job.

Also the guy in the white suit is JOHNNY LOGAN, and also the ad features up and coming model Ruth O'Neill.

    Finally the ad is old

No,there was an ad for harp a few years ago with a load of nordies sitting in a pub, being gas crack altogether.Anyway one of them says "you're a sick and sad individual" in his annoying northen whine and i've wanted to kill him ever since.

They are excellent ads. Very good p-takes. Far funnier than any of the Hoff ads.

Interesting analysis of what the ads are supposed to be achieving from LOTP.

Also, how many people on here are spending all day filling in spreadsheets at work, while at the same time laughing at Logan for stupidly earning a good few pretty pennies for singing some old songs of his? Seems like we are the fools, and not him, tbh.

Never heard of him until this ad thing started and he was on podge and rodge or the panel or something.

He sucks whoever he is and these crappy ads suck too especially the acting.

Have not ate in McDonalds in years becuase I don't consider it food. Not changing my mind. The ad is about the same quality as the food IMO.
Ahh, you're just pissed off because you have to settle for supermacs, the poor mans mcdonalds.

Aside from that, I hope all of you reading this get your parents/ grandparents/ weird friends to shout out random mcdonalds menu items the next time the go to see a johnny logan concert.

What sort of twat would take those ads - OBVIOUSLY piss-takes - seriously. It seems that those who would are not only too young to have heard of Johnny Logan but also too young to have discovered irony.

I think they're great, if completely ineffective. They're funny, but I still won't eat McDonalds. I don't think they'd encourage anyone to!

For the benefit of someone who may not have known, the Hold Me Now song is one that Johnny actually DID sing Hold Me Now (which he also wrote) when he won the contest in 1980.

And tbh I'm shocked that the OP hadn't seen any of this before now to find out who Johnny Logan was.

1987 ;) Shay Healy wrote his winner in 1980... What's Another Year... oh how I used to love the Eurovision..

But his Hold Me Now is not a fkn patch on the Thompson Twins song of the same name... imo...
