BMW 316 - water spitting up from demisters

Brother car having some problems He says his BMW 316 using up alot of water recently. If I turn on the demisters water starts spitting from them. When I turn off the engine I can hear like a boiling sound from where the demisters are too. Any ideas?

By demisters , you do mean the Air Vents ... Right ?

He said demisters....I guess he means the air vents alright.
