Oxygen Room - NEWRY???

    I have been advised an booked into a MS special centre to avail of the oxygen room facilty due to a niggling football injury, does anyone know where this place is as i dont have a clue...:(

    And what benifits does this do?? i presume it helps musles recover??

    Hi there, don't be scared at all!!:)

    Yeah you're right, there are many benefits from oxygen therapy and one them is to treat injured muscles. It speeds up the recovery basically.

    Not so sure about this one.

    Marketed as improving oxygen delivery to muscles and thus hopefully improve healing. However a lot of this research is based on sick people. I.e. People with serious injuries. In such patients, their tissue oxygen delivery is below normal to start with due to their other injuries and this may account for the benefit in these cases.

    In a normal patient where oxygen delivery is normal anyway, I am not sure if this will have any benefit (unless of course the patient just forgot to mention that they have chain smoked for 100 years :) ).

    Also intersting to note that blood oxygen levels fall below baseline for a while after coming out of the chamber! Although they do pick up very quickly back to baseline and maybe above.
