Most memorable cheats/unlockable features?

I've always appreciated when game developers pack as many cheats/unlockable features into a game as they can. Here are some of the best I remember off the top of my head:

    - The warp zones in Super Mario Bros. My head nearly exploded the first time I found the one on World 1-2.
    - The unlockable features in GoldenEye for the sheer quantity of them.
    - The hidden character fights in Smash Bros (the warning siren was a great touch)
    - Super Sonic in Sonic II.
    - Have you ever passed Link's Awakening without losing a life or stealing the spade?

I'd say I'll take the gore-mode unlock ("Dullard") in the Mega Drive version of Mortal Kombat to my grave. There were other things you could enable in Cheat Mode, but the gore is all I remember of it.

Vortex on the SNES also had a couple of cheats but I only valued those because the game was impossibly hard without them...

I would say the Mario games (particularly Super Mario World) were the undisputed masters of having hidden stuff. In fact I'd say SMW is the best example of it.

Probably the one in Shinobi for infinite shrukiens where the zero changed shape in the options screen. :)

As yes when it becomes the infinity symbol and makes a little power up noise. I liked that :D

    A few more:
    - Meeting Yoshi on top of the castle in Mario 64.
    - Crazy tennis mode in Pete Sampras Tennis on Megadrive
    - Tekken Ball Mode n Tekken 3. Gon FTW!

Hmm, I was going to post the level select cheat for sonic 1 here. I have a feeling I posted it in the thread about nipple-piercing by accident.

Oh well, your loss is their gain...

It would appear we had the same childhood :D

Dont forget the Sonic debug mode too.

    C up, C down, C left, C right, A and start.

Actually, if you overclock a Megadrive you can make hundreds of jumping fish without having that slowdown effect.

    ...

If that doesn't make you want to overclock I don't know what would :D

Overclock a megadrive? Interesting.... did it use a cart of some sort or did you have to open up the console?

    Overclocking requires some modifications alright. Theres a decent little forum about it here;

I'll get around to trying it someday. Not on my own megadrive mind you, I've had that thing too long to be soldering bits of wire to it!
