Check out the "DTT Trials: reception reports" thread:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054986437&page=7

"lawhec" has a map indicating DTT reception coverage for assumed strength of 10kW from C.C. Its post number 137 of the thread.

You would need a group C/D aerial alright. Analogue TV from C.C. is on chs. 52/56/66/68. Polarisation is vertical. DTT tests are on 53/57/60. Also a blank carrier signal on ch. 63. More tech minded posters to this forum could advise you on reception. But guessing: you would want to check for analogue reception from CC first. How far are you from CC? Check with your neighbours/other houses for aerial setups.

If you look at the map on that 137 post...i'm just above "ballyhaise" and there seems to be yellow or blue patch over where I am...all the neighbous are set up for Cair Hill from Leitrim..think I rem ghosting pic on 56 when tunin in TV ages ago so maybe with the right arieal could be lucky..

Sure about this? I'm wondering do you mean Cairn Hill in Longford? (Grp B, chs 40/43/46/50). If it is your neighbours aerials would be pointing roughly south. As for CC, you may get lucky. Pure guess here: but as you are getting a ghosted image on ch 56, (sounds like something from CC) would a masthead amplifier be of any use here to pull in a signal?

Barryo, if what you are getting on ch. 56 is RTE2, it should be CC. Good luck with getting a picture! P.S. Didn't you get one of the trial boxes?
