I have Creative 5.1 speakers for my PC here and nearly every night it picks up what appears to be Asian people talking, like a radio!!? No word of a lie!

And whats even more weird is that when I higher up the volume the talking goes away and when I lower the volume right down the talking gets louder?

Anybody know whats going on? Are my speakers possessed?

They also make a loud 'pop' sound when a light is switched on or off!

Mods please feel free to move this if not suitable but its just bugging me!

Happened to me once as well.... i could what seemed like people on a phone very faintly on my speakers. Also, when stuff like the shower (electric) is turned on i hear a pop aswell, im guessin its to do with a slight dip in voltage or something

I have creative speakers too, and I hear what sounds like Spanish radio. I'm guessing the speakers are picking up long wave radio signals when the volume is down really low. Couldn't tell you why.

Yeah it come and goes but mainly it happens at night!

C'mon any nerds out there that can explain this?:D

It also happens with logitech x-530 5.1 speakers. I googled this some time ago and its because they are not shielded from interferance. I got mine about 2 years ago in pc world cause they where going cheap. The speakers are good enough, not a bad sound from them. Theres more on it here.

Ya mean the X350 that were on sale for about 80 quid. There the ones I have too!

I get the pop alright. Have a fridge plugged into the same extention chord as the speakers. Pops every time the fridge goes on or off. Haven't picked up any strange phone/radio talk yet though. Will keep an ear out.

There the X-530's made in china too. I was thinking of buying some good quality floor standing speakers and wiring them up to the pc. It pisses me off at times...

Maybe one of the little asian kids fell inside your speaker when they were putting them together in a sweat shop.

Woah check this, its all about EVP interferance we may be onto something here heh.

    Taken from the above link:

"Voices of the Dead? This is exactly what is happening, according to some people. If you listen carefully, they say, you can hear the voices of the dead in tape recordings."

    and

"In this EVP recording, you can hear a voice saying, almost in agony, ..."Save Me."
You might have to play it a couple of times but you can't miss it. This recording has only been enhanced by myself using a sound editing program. The reason was to cut down on the "noise" and "bring out" the actual voice."

Maybe this belongs in the paranormal forum feel free to move it mods. ;)

was fun alright. she knew about it too so would try call me through it sometimes but it wouldnt come through if something was on the tv, only if it was at the white static. otherwise the screen would just flicker a bit.

Would have loved to be able to talk back though. how cool would that be to freak my mates out.

You realise you've suggested a theory and linked us to a website that disproves that theory, right?

Haha, same speakers here, same problem!

It usually happens around evening time for me. During winter, it starts at around 9, but during the summer, it starts at about 6. It constantly fades in and out at random intervals.

I thought it might be something to do with me living beside an open green in a housing estate, but after reading that it happens to people with the same speakers as me, I'm not so sure anymore

Methinks you might want to call a hacker-exorcist? ;) Then again, if it starts whispering sweet nothings to you... Maybe you might want to turn up the volume? Ha!

we had some problem yrs ago with our radio, we could hear voices, peole talking, and the longer we listened to it the more we recognised their voices and names..turns out it was a house that was across a field to ours, and it was coming from their baby montiors, i was still listening when my mom went down to tell them ..their daughter answered the door and went into her parents "mam, mrs x says she can hear us on her radio!!" very excited..

    Something about sandwiches

thats what happened just before Pearl Harbour!! They could hear them comin in on the radios.

I had the same problem with me guitar amp. brought it into the shop and they said one of the wires was unshielded so was just pickin up radio waves, like most big metal yokes, except it has a speaker in it obviously so then its able to output the noise. i think it was the spaniards on mine tho, not the chinese. i dont think mine can pick up the chinese coz their waves are encrypted with their mad chinese writin, i think u need radios made in taiwan or sumtin to pick them up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,737 ✭✭✭mawk

i was about to say the same. ive a big guitar amp in my living room and it from time to time picks up radio..

anyhow it IS just unshielded wiring picking up radio waves. and without a big rheostat to change frequency you only get one signal. like an fm radio with no dial.

actually OP having thought for one sec when you change the volume your actually scanning a slightly different frequency, and lower in the volume range is a resistance that matches the radio frquency better. like because its a small pot in your speakers you can only scan like 90.4fm-90.7fm or somesuch and thats where your radio freq is living.

maybe you have asian neighbours who are too cheap to use mobiles and just bought some walkies in argos?

My dad's laptop sometimes starts typing by itself if he has MS word open. They're all actual words but have no structure and make no sense. It doesn't stop either until you close it and it's really freaky.
