    Hey folks,

I got news today that my application to transfer to Queens University from W.I.T was succesful so my question to you is this: Is there much difference in culture between the north and the republic? I know obvious differences such as currency, maybe even different laws, and I know there will be people there from far and wide, but is there much of a personality change between northern and southern irish people? What else can I expect one I move up there?

Thanks in advance for any replies. ;)

    You'll have great craic.
People are friendly and drink is cheap, what more does a student want.

When I was in Belfast, I lived in East Belfast as I didn't know the areas before I moved.
Was advised not to wear a Celtic/GAA jersey when out and about.
    Never got hassle anyway.
You won't have these problems around the University.

Oh, and the black cabs will rob you blind if they think you are unfamiliar with the area but sure you probably get this in Waterford too

When you cross that border you're into bandit country, you have to watch your back and keep watching it while looking straight ahead of you also.

The Nordies are generally a miserly people, with alot of pent up anger, they are generally bad mannered, foul mouthed and extremely unkind. A bunch of miscreants for want of a better word.

My advice is to steer clear.

The student houses in and around Queens are amazing. That whole place is like a student town. Lots of craic to be had.
