Heroes question

Hi , im new to this series as well as this board, I have watched maybe 5 eps. I watched the PILOT, and ep1, but they were the same episode ? even though at the start a different chapter name was displayed ?

As far as I know the pilot was out in the wild some months before the series officially started. I don't think it was ever really supposed to be for the consumption of the general public.
