I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this but…

Does anyone know why Premier Dairies milk (regular milk) in the supermarket is 15c cheaper than Avonmore? As far as I am aware they are both owned by the same company, Glanbia, and are the exact same product. I have noticed this a number of times in a few different supermarkets over the last few weeks.

Yep, used to do some work experience in a milk place, and the same milk is used for different companies. Literally, packaging is just swapped over. When i was younger we used to get it straight from the farm, mmmmm:)

might be all the "same milk" but avanmore tastes watery-er (sorry i dunno how else to describe it) than other brands.....must be from cows on a diet or something

    flossie is right.
I used to have a summer job in a creamery and our own brand milk was more expensive that the milk we had for the supermarket contract.

    Exaxt same product-just fancy packaging

Yet my parents still insist on the more expensive stuff as "you get what you pay for" Erm, except that i've witnessed first hand you DON'T!

    This is correct.

I don't care what people say, but there is a definite teste difference between Avonmore and Premier.

I can't stand Avonmore, and I'd take the Pepsi challenge on it.

I can't say I ever really tasted any difference between the two. Hmnnn I think I've been drinking Tesco's own brand for far too long, so much cheaper than Avonmore!

I've hated milk since we were forced to drink it UN-REFRIGERATED at lunch every day in Junior school. Now its reserved for use only in cereal and tea. The weirdos here all drink UHT milk...There's 3 shops in a town of 50,000 that sell real milk...It's a bloody nightmare.

bring back the glass bottles delivered to the door milk has never been the same since :D

Avonmore, Premier and Snowcream are all exactly the same, made in the same plants by the same company.

In the house I was in till I was about eight, we got Avonmore delivered, when we moved, we got Premier. Avonmore has that bit of sentimentality to it :p

But Premier's cheaper... And I really haven't noticed a taste difference.

And I've always liked the Avonmore packaging :D

I was in Belgium many years ago for two weeks and hated the fact that it's virtually impossible to get anything other than UHT milk. Everywhere sells it and almost nowhere sells fresh milk. Cereal and tea/coffee taste foul with UHT milk.

The Avonmore cows have opera lessons twice a week and are encouraged to express their artistic side with poo paintings. Thats why their moo-juice tastes nicer, its an overall classier milk.

lol. On a side note did you know that in Poland they sell milk in ...... BAGS! Yes cartons aren't so popular and milk is general bought in 1L bags. Makes keeping it upright in a fridge tough!

Edit - Hmnn why I can't display the image within the reply. Have the tags for doing this disappeared from this version of vbulletin?

Same in Canada, you buy a little jug that the bag sits into.

NCF ftw! Agree with people who say Avonmore is watery, it tastes like there's very little cream in it...

yep same in Canada milk in bags, the bag was put in a jug though but i kept spilling it!

in Honduras, they pour bottles of coca cola in little plastic bags with a straw, you definetly couldn't put that down! I think it's so they can recycle the bottles but don't trust people to bring them back.

I reckon in Poland it's because it's cheaper than a carton rather than recycling.

Never noticed a difference in taste between the brands but I HATE milk from a plastic bottle. Tastes so much better from a carton!

For all the people complaining about watery milk....I'm assuming you've never tried 0% fat milk.

Bought it once and nearly got lynched by the housemates.

    Nothing can beat unpasturised milk!!
The milk down in Thurles is lovely, but unfortunately you've to go to Thurles to get it...;)
That organic milk is also quite nice.
