I was recently asked about how to post pictures directly within threads here on boards.ie. I promsied to make a post showing how it's done, so here it is:

    1. Go to http://www.suprfile.com
    2. Click the Choose button and locate the picture you want to display
    3. Click the 'Upload file' button.
    4. After it has uploaded, you will be given several links. The one we need is called the 'Direct' link (2nd last). Highlight and copy that link.

    5. Now create a new thread here on boards.ie or reply to an existing thread.
    6. Click the 'Add picture' button as shown here:
    addpic.JPG

    7. A popup box will ask you for a URL. Paste in the link that you got from the suprfile website.

    8. Press ok, and finish making your post as usual.

Would it not be easier to do with photobucket? After you upload a picture it gives you an image link to copy and paste. You don't need to go pressing the add picture button on boards or anything. The HTML is included already. You just paste the link over. I put instructions for that up in the post pictures of your equipment thread. Which has resulted in many pretty pictures popping up without the need for clicking links :) hurrah!

Photobucket is $%^$% in my opinion. Slow, fails every now and again, and the pictures don't stay for very long.

suprfile is fast, reliable, and pics stay for at least 6 months.

Oh, and no need to register or login for suprfile. Not needing to remember a userid/password is a big plus IMHO.

If anyone wants to do a tutorial for other photo sharing sites and add it to this thread, then that would be great.

All my uploaded photos online have been from photobucket. Never disappeared. Site has never failed on me.

Must be that dodgy work connection of yours that messes up boards too ;)

My instructions aren't complicated. :p In fact, they are very much over simplified. But the instructions were written for those who are not 'comfortable' with using computers.

And lets compare photobucket with suprfile:

    Photobucket
    1. Create Photobucket account.
    2. Login whenever you need to post an image, and pray you haven't forgotten your password.
    3. Follow their instructions.
    4. Done.

    Suprfile
    1. Follow their instructions.
    2. Spend 0.2 seconds clicking the 'add image' button on boards, and pasting the link.
    3. Done.

Not much of a difference, but I personally hate logging in and remembering passwords and such, so I know which one I prefer.

I'm 100% fine with people disagreeing with me. So long as there are no flames, I'm grand :D

Thanks for the pat on the back though ;)

Its the same Difference realy ,whichever your most comfortable using is best. Reason Photobucket gets my vote is cos Oisin explained to me how to use it in 2 short sentences.

    *Slams Hammer* case closed.
[Oisin] "i get to say that" :p

Sign up for photobucket account (I agree, annoying..but only have to do it once)

Get browser to remember log in and pass.

    Upload picture.

    untitled.jpg

Paste over the bottom link that says "IMG code"

    Then you're done!

Heh, yeah, they're more or less the same. I'm just being silly ;)
